  • NIAZI TRIBE of MIANWALI: a Cultural Study Session
NIAZI TRIBE OF MIANWALI: A Cultural Study Session: 2012-14 By PARI GUL NIAZI Roll No. 10 M.Phil (Regular) Supervised by: Dr. Muhammad Akbar Malik Department of Pakistan Studies The Islamia University of Bahawalpur i Abstract Mianwali district is located in Pakistan it is one of less developed area of Pakistan. There are different casts living in Minawli but the majority living people are consisting of Niazai tribe. This is one of the strong tribes of Pathans. Their culture and language differs a lot from other people. This is never discussed in dateils at any forum. One or two articles can be found in newspapers but not a detailed thesis or book is found on this topic. This is the reason; this topic was chosen for a research work. Although the history of Mianwali district is explored and worked for many times yet the cultural aspects remained in dark. A less worked area which is never been discussed, could bring a research material to the field of Pakistan Studies and cultural anthropology. It will encourage others to explore their culture which we are forgetting and merging with the western culture. This work highlights the cultural aspects of Niazai tribe specifically. The research style is followed by the steps taken in the Cultural Anthropology of Connard Phillip Kottak. Niazai people of Mianwali are very hospitable and respect its guests. But their language contains an element of satire so the habitants of that area are used to it and reply other person in a mocking manner. It is creates humor among them.

RESEARCH TO FILL CRITICAL EVIDENCE GAPS CLIMATE CHANGE, RESILIENCE, AND POPULATION DYNAMICS IN PAKISTAN A CASE STUDY OF THE 2010 FLOODS IN MIANWALI DISTRICT The Population Council is prioritizing research to strengthen the evidence on resilience among those who are vulnerable to environmental stressors. This research is designed to fill evidence gaps and generate the evidence decision-makers need to develop and implement effective programs and policies. popcouncil.org/research/climate-change-vulnerability- and-resilience For information on partnership and funding opportunities, contact: Jessie Pinchoff, [email protected] Suggested citation: Sathar, Zeba, A., Muhammad Khalil, Sabahat Hussain, Maqsood Sadiq, and Kiren Khan. 2018. “Climate Change, Resilience, and Population Dynamics in Pakistan: A Case Study of the 2010 Floods in Mianwali District.” Pakistan: Population Council. Photos: Population Council Staff Islamabad © 2018 The Population Council, Inc ii In 2010, Pakistan experienced massive flooding that went on uninterrupted for more than eight weeks, and seriously affected more than 20 million people. This study explores the effects of the floods on one of the most adversely affected districts, Mianwali, in Punjab province. A multidisciplinary approach is taken to analyze available demographic and geospatial data for a deeper understanding of the community- level vulnerability to the 2010 floods, to identify demographic changes potentially associated with the floods, and to describe the implications for building resilience in regions at high risk of large-scale flood events. We focus on four areas pertaining to resilience: 1. Movements and migration processes 2. Shifts in poverty levels and living conditions 3. Changes in livelihood activities 4. Health-seeking behavior, particularly fertility-related processes This study highlights the need to include demographic and health information in the analysis of natural disasters.

  • Relationship Between Heads' Leadership Styles and Job
    J. educ. sci. res. Journal of Educational Sciences & Research Spring 2015, Volume 2, No. 1 http://uos.edu.pk/ Relationship between Heads’ Leadership Styles and Job Satisfaction of Secondary School Teachers 1Muhammad Sadiq, 2Shafqat Hussain, 3Kashif Mahmood, 4Amir Abdullah & 5Tanveer Ahmad [email protected] Abstract All countries of the world make efforts to reform their educational system. For the purpose many researches are conducted, various policies are formulated and different steps are taken. Several researches reveal that effective leadership is mandatory and the head of institution plays a vital role to achieve the targets. This study attempts to investigate the relationship of heads’ leadership styles (democratic & autocratic) on job satisfaction level of secondary school teachers (SSTs). The study was a cross-sectional survey and was ‘analytic’ in nature (Cohen et al., 2007). A co-relational design is adopted to get information from the quantitative data. All the boys’ public secondary schools of district Mianwali were taken as population and 19 out of 56 boys’ public secondary schools of two tehsils (Mianwali and Piplan) were selected using convenient sampling technique. A questionnaire comprising of 37 items was designed and administered to the selected sample of male SSTs. The questionnaires (230) were delivered to teachers personally by the researchers and the response rate was 91%. Validation of the instrument was carried out through expert opinion, by which the items were improved in terms of language, format and content. An estimate of internal consistency using Cronbach Alpha formula was 0.863. Mean score, standard deviation, correlation coefficient and regression were used to analyze the data.
