Demonstration of Proven Agricultural Technologies Asfaw Zewdu, Abdela Usmael, Sultan Usman and Mustefa Abdulkadir BENEFIT-REALISE Programme Oda Bultum University Cluster Chiro, West Hararghe Zone, Ethiopia Introduction Mixed farming system (crop and livestock) is the major livelihood activities of PSNP beneficiaries in the area. Sorghum, maize, haricot bean, chickpea, and tef are the major crops whereas finger millet, onion, tomato, sweet potato, coffee and hot pepper are the potential crops produced in the area. Cattle, small ruminants, equines, poultry and bees are the major livestock types found in the area. In PRA study, crop insect, crop disease, weeds, agro-ecological unfitted supplied varieties seed, shortage of nutrition dense crop variety, livestock feed shortage, droughts/rainfall variability, soil erosion and lack of agricultural extension services were a major problems in the area. A proven and selected agricultural technology by the farmers have been conducting by different research organization for further addressing our farmers. Therefore, the project aim to demonstrate different proven agricultural technologies to the context of PSNP farmers in West Hararghe zone. Methodology The project demonstrated different improved varieties of crop The study conducted in four woredas namely Habro, Oda Bultum, Chiro and Doba woredas of in different areas.
