Currently there is capacity available in the WRZ and it is envisaged that capacity is available to cater for the proposed population targets for Kilkenny city Kilkenny City Key Town 26,512 3,641 Kilkenny city in the Draft CDP.

The NWRP Regional Report for the East/Midlands area is due to be published in Q3 2021 (timelines subject to change), which will outline the preferred approach for the WRZ, after which point a timeframe for interventions will be scheduled.

An interim solution to improve capacity in the WRZ is being considered as part of the IW Small Towns and Villages Growth programme, with the notification of successful projects going forward for funding under the STVGP to be provided to the local Bennettsbridge Regional Bennetsbridge Small Town/Village Not provided in Draft CDP. authorities on a staggered basis from Q2 2021. Separately, longer term solutions for the resolution of the deficit in the Bennettsbridge WRZ are being WS assessed and developed through the National Water Resources Plan Full Options Assessment process, with a preferred approach anticipated to be completed in mid 2021.

A Pre-Connection Enquiry should be submitted to Irish Water to determine the feasibility of connecting any particular site to the Irish Water network; feasibility should not be inferred from the WRZ capacity outlined in the table above.
