For Immediate Release: Monday, November 1, 2010 4 WEEKLY RELEASE: EARLY SEASON DRAMA ALBANY, N.Y. ­ Yale, both the coaches’ and media’s pre­season choice to win this year’s 2010­11 ECAC Hockey regular season crown, is off to a 2­0 start after posting two wins in the Ivy Shootout at . The Bulldogs scored seven goals in each of their wins over the weekend ­ 7­4 win over Brown and a 7­3 win over Dartmouth in the finale of the Ivy Shootout. Yale spotted its opponents in both games of the Shootout, but stormed back with a goal explosion in each game. One Friday senior forward Denny Kearney had a natural hat trick and four points, Brian O'Neill (3 points) hit the net twice, and Broc Little added a goal and three points for the No. 5­ranked Bulldogs. Yale outshot Brown 40­20 while converting two of six man­advantages. Mike Clemente, who had 14 stops in the third, finished with 33 saves in net for the Bears. The visitors, who scored all of their goals with an advantage, saw Yale sophomore Jeff Malcolm halt 16 shots. A second straight slow start didn't prevent Yale from earning its second straight win Saturday. After spotting Dartmouth a 2­0 lead, the Bulldogs scored six straight times to help senior Ryan Rondeau get the win in goal. Rondeu made 23 saves on the evening for the win. Dartmouth earned its way into the finale of the Ivy Shootout by starting the season with a 2­1 win over Princeton Friday afternoon. Evan Stephens gave the Big Green the lead early in the second period before Paul Lee tallied the game­winner late in the contest. Jody O'Neill backstopped the winners with 21 saves. Brown finished the weekend with a 1­1 mark. On the strength of 28 saves from rookie netminder Marco De Filippo and a pair of goals from senior Jesse Fratkin, and junior Jack Maclellan the Bears earned their first win of the young season with a 2­1 decision over Princeton (0­2­0) Saturday afternoon as part of the Ivy Shootout. The Tigers dropped their second straight 2­1 decision to open the season. Matt Arhontas picked up his second goal of the season in the loss for Princeton. Quinnipiac split a road series at St. Cloud State last weekend.
