Most abortions are performed in sterile clinics under safe conditions with limited harm to the mother; however, this may not be true if abortions are outlawed. However, and a practical yet controversial way to lower these numbers significantly resides within the darkest sanction of United States prisons: death row. Several death row inmates have asked to terminate their appeals in order to donate their organs after their execution.
