Orientation Before students are allowed to register for classes, an online orientation is required for all transfer and nontraditional students to introduce student essentials and resources. After being admitted into UNC, the link to online orientation is sent to each student’s BearMail.

Transfer and Non-Traditional Welcome Transfer and nontraditional students are also encouraged to attend an optional three-hour Transfer and Non-Traditional Welcome, which provides an overview of life at UNC. It is a convenient time for students to connect with other students, meet with an advisor and register for classes.

EXPLORING FINANCIAL AID UNC offers financial assistance through loans, grants, work-study and scholarships.

FAFSA Every student should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is a required application for a wide range of financial aid, including need-based grants, loans, work-study and some UNC scholarships.

COLLEGE OPPORTUNITY FUND (COF) If you’re a Colorado resident, you should make applying for the College Opportunity Fund stipend a priority. The COF was established by the Colorado legislature to help offset the cost of college for Colorado residents. If you don’t apply for the stipend, you’ll pay the full resident tuition rate. All newly admitted students with fewer than 20 transferable college credit hours earned after high school graduation (or equivalent), who are under 21 and not living with their legal guardian in the local area, are required to live in the university’s residence halls through the completion of the first academic year of their attendance. Credits earned through Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College- Level Examination Program (CLEP) or concurrent enrollment with high school do not apply toward the live-on requirement.
