Lehdessä on Anu Seilonen jälleen useita mielenkiintoisia juttuja, mistä lämmin kiitos kaikille artikkeleita Päätoimittaja lähettäneille - lehteä ei olisi olemassa ilman teitä! Pitkälle on tultu ensimmäisen Saku-lehden jälkeen, mutta uudistuminen ja kehittyminen jatkuu. Pieniä muutoksia saimme myös tähän lehteen. Pari vuotta jatkamani huhuilu uutistoimittajan pestaamiseksi tuotti vihdoin tulosta: päivityspalstaa jo aiemmin tehnyt Joni Halme lupautui vaativaan urakkaan. Lähdemme liikkeelle varovasti ja kehitämme uutisia ja niiden luonnetta edelleen seuraavissa numeroissa. Tarkoitus on uutisoida olennaisista asioista, ja niiden kaivaminen sivustoilta ja foorumeista on kovaa työtä. Toivottakaamme Joni tervetulleeksi laajentuneeseen vastuuseen, isohko murkula vierähti tämän pestin myötä päätoimittajan sydämeltä! Toinenkin ympyrä sulkeutuu tämän numeron myötä, tai oikeammin jo viime lehdessä: SAKU #1:stä lähtien joka lehdessä ollut taustamusiikki jää nyt kokonaan pois. SAKU #1 oli siis alku ja loppu, ensimmäinen ja viimeinen - Saku #43:ssa soi SAKU #1:n musiikki. Siihen on hyvä lopettaa. Nykyään taitaa jo muutenkin jokaisella soida omat musiikit milloin milläkin Ampilla soitettuna, joten kaivakaa vaikka esiin joku mieleisenne kappale ja lukekaa lehteä sen siivittämänä. Ehkä jossain vaiheessa harkitsemme vaikkapa mp3- tai ogg-kappaleita lehteen, mutta sen aika ei ole nyt. On toisenlaisten asioiden vuoro mennä tärkeysjärjestyksessä edelle. Suurin niistä on yhdistyksen kirjanpito. Koska hallitus ei vuoden 2002 vuosikokouksessa annettujen tavoitteiden mukaisesti saanut viiden ensimmäisen tilikauden jälkeisiä kirjanpitoja kuntoon, ovat ne nyt listalla ensimmäisenä. Allekirjoittanut on lupautunut hoitamaan ne kuntoon viimeistään ensi vuosikokoukseen mennessä, ja haluaisin uskoa itsestäni, että pystyn tässä tapauksessa pitämään sen minkä olen luvannutkin. Jotain täytyy kuitenkin silloin siirtää taka-alalle, ja se on tällä kertaa Saku-lehti. Pidämme tämän numeron jälkeen noin puolen vuoden julkaisutauon. Odottelemme samalla, josko Amiga-maailmassa tapahtuisi sillä aikaa jotain uutta ja mielenkiintoista, ja palaamme kuvioihin uusin eväin kesäkuussa 2004. Tarkempi julkaisupäivä ilmoitetaan myöhemmin yhdistyksen kotisivuilla. Toivotan kaikille lukijoille koko toimituksen puolesta Sakuisaa joulua ja erinomaista uutta vuotta. Sammutamme hetkeksi lampun - kuten kansikuva vihjaa - ja palaamme lehden pariin jälleen kesällä uusin voimin! Anu Seilonen päätoimittaja Sivun alkuun Anu Seilonen | [email protected] Suomen Amiga-käyttäjät ry:n vuosikokous 2003 Kun näytti siltä, että yhdistyksen vuosikokoukset ovat jumittuneet Ouluun jo kolmanneksi vuodeksi peräkkäin, saimme idean kesällä Anu Seilonen vietetystä 10-vuotisgrillijuhlasta (ks. Saku #43). Mitäpä jos Vuosikokous 2003 vuosikokouskin olisi Riihimäellä? Tuumasta toimeen, totesi iskuryhmä ja pisti pökköä sakupesään. Posti Hulppeista tiloista vielä hulppeampiin Joanna Kurki Pegasos/RJ Mical -tilaisuus Joni Halme Uutiset Päivitykset Oulun tukikohdan taloyhtiön kerhohuone oli sekin luksusta aiempiin vuosiin verrattuna, mutta tällä kertaa pistimme vielä paremmaksi. Hallituksen tuorein jäsen Sami Ylönen varasi käyttöömme historiallisen Vuosikokoussivusto Riihimäen upseerikerhon tilat. Kattokruunut, nahkasohvat, baaritiski, jykevät pylväät ja seiniltä roikkuvista tauluista katselevat tuimasilmäiset upseerit saivat olon tuntumaan perin juhlalliselta. Emme kuitenkaan unohtaneet perinteitämmekään - muhkea kakluuni sai kylkiinsä yhdistyksen Boing-julisteita, ja vieraskirjamme sekä esitemateriaali laskettiin kukkakimpun koristamalle pöydälle. Tästä huolimatta tila pysäytti vieraat aina välillä vain ihastelemaan sen arvokkuutta. Kuten joku vitsailikin, vuosikokousjatkumon vaalimiseksi seuraava kokous pitänee järjestää Turun linnassa... Sivun alkuun Iskuryhmä rivakkaana Alkujärjestelyitä tultiin hoitamaan hyvissä ajoin. Tilojen järjestelyssä ei ryhmältä kauan mennyt, ja sitten päästiinkin jo virittämään esittelykoneita toimintaan. Tarjolla olikin harvinaista herkkua parhaasta päästä Amiga-maailmaa. Sami Ylönen toi paikalle MorphOS- käyttöjärjestelmällä varustetun Pegasos-tietokoneensa, jonka kotelo muuten voitti Assembly '03:ssa toisen palkinnon kotelonmodauskisassa. Lisäksi Genesi toimitti yhdistykselle Superbundle-ohjelmistopaketteja ja Pegasos-esitteitä. Koska Pegasosta olemme kuluneena vuonna esitelleet useita kertoja aiemminkin, se ei ehkä enää kerännyt niin paljon uutuudenviehätystä. Tämän kokouksen vetonaula oli sen sijaan ensimmäistä kertaa Suomessa esitelty Amigan uuden käyttöjärjestelmän, AmigaOS 4:n betaversio. Betatestaaja Joni Halme toi paikalle PowerPC-kiihdyttimellä ja PCI- väyläkortilla varustetun Amiga 4000 -tietokoneensa, jossa OS4:ää pyöritettiin. Sivun alkuun Historian nopein vuosikokous? Vaikka hinku testaamaan uusia laitteita olikin kova, pidettiin tuttuun tapaan ensin sääntömääräinen vuosikokous. Varsinaiseen kokoukseen osallistui 19 jäsentä, mikä on varsin kohtuullinen määrä. Itse kokous olikin sitten ennätyslyhyt - tai nopea - esityslistan asioista kun harvemmin sen kiihkeämpää keskustelua syntyy. Kokouksen kestoksi kellotettiin kokonaista 17 minuuttia. Toisaalta huonomminkin voisi olla - ainakin kokouksiin osallistujat ovat ihailtavan yksimielisiä. :) Valitettavasti viiden ensimmäisen tilikausien jälkeisiä kirjanpitoja ei ollut saatu valmiiksi aiempien suunnitelmien vastaisesti, joten asia jouduttiin jättämään pöydälle. Puheenjohtaja ottanee itse asian hoitaakseen, sillä asian venyttäminen hankaloittaa entisestään yhdistyksen hallinnollista puolta. Jäsenmaksu äänestettiin pysymään 11 eurossa, ja loppusilauksena saimme entisten jatkavien jäsenten lisäksi hallitukseen kaksi uuttakin jäsentä. Ei lainkaan hassummin. Vuosikokouksen pöytäkirja julkaistaan tarkistuksen viivästymisen vuoksi myöhemmin yhdistyksen kotisivuilla sekä seuraavassa Saku-lehdessä.     1 MByte Chip-RAM für alle Wer oft mit Grafikprogrammen arbeitet, hat's sicher schon erlebt: Während einer Operation, z.B. dem Ausschneiden eines Bildteils, alarmiert die Meldung, daß der vorhandene Speicher nicht ausreicht und die Operation abgebrochen wird. Und das obwohl der Amiga mit einer zusätzlichen Speicherkarte aufgerüstet wurde. Der Grund für die Fehlermeldung ist einfach: Die RAM-Karte wird vom Amiga als Fast-RAM ins System eingebunden. Grafikprogramme wie DPaint benötigen zum effektiven Arbeiten aber viel Chip-RAM. Chip-RAM heißt der Teil des Speichers, auf den die Custom-Chips für Sound und Grafik per DMA (Direct Memory Access = direkter Speicherzugriff) zugreifen können. Das Fast-RAM liegt außerhalb dieses Bereichs. Ältere Amiga-Modelle können auch nur 512 KByte Chip-RAM ansprechen. Die Ursache liegt im älteren Agnus 8371 oder an einem nicht voll aktivierten 8372A. Mit etwas Löterfahrung und Werkzeug können Sie Ihrem Amiga zu mehr Chip-RAM verhelfen. Sie können Ihren Amiga aufschrauben und die Typenbezeichnung des Chips ablesen (der Agnus-Chip ist das quadratische IC, meist ist auch ein entsprechender Platinenaufdruck vorhanden). Wenn Sie die Platinenrevision Ihres Amigas wissen, läßt sich auch daraus auf den Agnus-Typ schließen. Die Platinenrevision finden Sie beim Amiga 500 rechts vor dem Diskettenlaufwerk und beim Amiga 2000 links vorne in der Ecke. Oft wird die Nummer von einem Aufkleber verdeckt, den Sie erst entfernen müssen. Findet sich beim Amiga 500 an der angegebenen Stelle keine Bezeichnung, so handelt es sich um ein Board der Revision 3. For the most part, if you know how to look after them, they do their job reasonably well. But, they are just tools to do a job. They've lost their spark, they're boring. A long time ago computers were fun, it is this background that MorphOS came from and this is what MorphOS is for, making computers fun again. What is MorphOS? MorphOS is a fully featured desktop Operating System for PowerPC CPUs. It is small, highly responsive and has very low hardware requirements. The overall structure of MorphOS is based on a new modern kernel called Quark and a structure divided into a series of "boxes". This system allows different OS APIs to be used along side one another but isolates them so one cannot compromise the other. To make sure there is plenty of software to begin with the majority of development to date has been based on the A- BOX. In the future the more advanced Q-Box shall be added. Compatibility The A-Box is an entire PowerPC native OS layer which includes source and binary compatibility with software for the Commodore A500 / A1200 etc.

I am sitting in front of my »new Amiga«. It is a Sam440ep-Flex that I bought a few months ago. Behind my back my wife and the dog are still sleeping - wait - well at least she is snoozing. There is a lot to tell about my past experiences with Sam, UAE and Aros. And in fact I have told some of it - in german on my homepage. I think I might mention parts of it when there is a current theme that relates to my earlier posts. Yesterday I downloaded Vice from OS4depot and I am planning on transferring my Geos-Disks to Sam. I just hope I can find the cable. Vice seems to run really well on that little machine. I haven’t found out how to tell it to calibrate the joystick. I won’t play on the keyboard while a USB- Competition-Pro is resting on my desk. I have very fond memories of the classic Competition-Pro. I want this blog to capture most of the things I learn and experience on the machine and on related topics (such as my classic HW).
