PEACH COUNTY RECREATION DEPARTMENT 7-8 YEAR LEAGUE RULES 1. Playing field shall have a distance between all bases of 60 feet. 2. Ballgame will be 6 innings in length or 1 hour time limit. No new innings will start with 10 minutes of time or less remaining. No extra inning if game ends in tie. Ties count as 1\2 win 1\2 loss. 3. A home run line will be drawn. A ball crossing line on fly is automatically a homerun. A ball rolling across is all a player can make. A player may cross line to field ball. If caught in the air, batter is still awarded home run. 4. No bunting. 5. Slinging the bat in 7-8 Year Old League is NOT an out. 6. No infield fly rule. 7. Coaches allowed behind homerun line to position players in South Peach Park. At North Peach Park, coaches allowed inside outfield fence in foul territory. 8. Coaches will pitch. A line will be marked 20 feet from home plate. Pitchers must stay behind this line while delivering ball. Players will assume positions with no more than 6 infielders. Only one player in the pitcher's position which must be manned. First and third basemen cannot play in any closer to batter than pitcher (example: pitcher is 46 feet from home plate). Shortstop and second baseman no closer than back of pitcher's circle. Catcher is NOT ALLOWED. Only an adult can be catcher (NO KIDS). 9. Base runners cannot leave the base until the ball is hit. Player missing base is out. Call will be made by umpire after all play is stopped and time is called. 10. Once ball is controlled by infielder or outfielder on the infield side of time line, play is halted. This applies to throws from outfield or overthrows returned to infield. (Exception: Force plays only can be made from the outfield.) Time line goes from fence to fence. 11. All players will take the field. 12. There will be 6 pitches. If batter strikes out, he is out before the 6 pitches. When the 6 pitches are up and 3 strikes have not been made, the batter is out. If batter fouls 6th pitch, he receives another pitch until ball is hit or batter strikes out. 13. The team with the least number of players determines the number of players batting. The team at bat will bat the least number of batters or three outs, whichever comes first. 14. Line-ups must be given to scorekeeper 10 minutes before game time. A team must have eight ballplayers to start ballgame. Missing batter will be an automatic out. If team drops to seven players the game is forfeited. No changes can be made to batting order after the first inning; all changes will be made at the end of the first inning only. 15. Five (5) coaches only in dugout. 16. Base coaches allowed only at 1st and 3rd base. Coaches are not allowed to touch base runners. First violation is warning; second violation, runner is ruled out. 17. All players are to remain in dugout when not in field or at bat. 18. Practices two times Monday through Friday and once on weekend while still in school. This includes games, combination of 3 times. When school is out, no limit; between coach and parents. One hour fifteen minutes practice time. 19. No tobacco in any form allowed in parks. Use of profanity will result in dismissal from game; second offense dismissed for season. 20. Any coaches suspected of alcohol use prior to or during practices or games will be dismissed from the program. All players not registered after team drafts will go on the waiting list for assignment. There will be no additions to team rosters after 65% of games have been played in any league. REV 03/23/10 .
