ENSIGN WMA 20366 © Charles J Anderson On Thursday afternoon, General Birdwood D.S.O. of Thurlby Hall, Lincoln formerly in command of the 5th Army on the Western Front, visited Welton parish church to unveil the memorial Roll of Honour, in memory of the 73 men who joined the Army from the parish The memorial Roll of Honour is brass moulded on ebony and has been fixed on the chancel wall, it contains the names of 73 men whose homes were in this village, 14 of whom made the great sacrifice, 17 were wounded, 3 prisoner of war.
