OZZY OSBOURNE’S FIRST SOLO ALBUM IN TEN YEARS ORDINARY MAN DEBUTS AT #3 ON THE BILLBOARD TOP 200 #1 ON TOP ROCK ALBUMS CHART #1 ROCK ALBUM IN THE WORLD (Los Angeles, CA – March 2, 2020) – Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter OZZY OSBOURNE has bowed at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 with his first new solo album in ten years, the critically acclaimed ORDINARY MAN (Epic Records). This marks his fifth consecutive Top 5 entry and sixth Top 10 entry on the respective chart. It also places ahead of his most recent offering, SCREAM, which arrived at #4 in 2010. ORDINARY MAN has also captured #1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums Chart, making it the number one rock album in the world! Additionally, it ascends to #2 on the Billboard Albums Chart (Pure Album Sales), making for his highest entry. Overseas, he shattered various records. It became his highest solo debut ever in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Italy and Austria in addition to being his second #1 in Sweden. Get it here. Right out of the gate, this opus earned some of the best reviews of OZZY’s five-decade career. Variety called it, “an almost Bowie-‘Blackstar’-like farewell to friends and fans” and concluded, “With a really good—even at times great—album, OZZY OSBOURNE shows off, at the very least, that he’ll never be ordinary.” Forbes dubbed it, “a truly impressive one that deepens OSBOURNE’s sentimental place in rock and metal music.” Rolling Stone wrote, “Decades after he howled out ‘Oh, please, God, help me’ on ‘Black Sabbath,’ OZZY is still bravely confronting the dark side as only he can.” Consequence of Sound put it best, “There’s light still shining on the Prince of Darkness.” Next up, OZZY shares the music video for “Scary Little Green Men” starring none other than Jason Momoa [Aquaman]. -

Midyear Report Canada 2020
NIELSEN MUSIC / MRC DATA MIDYEAR REPORT CANADA 2020 1 Introduction HAT A DIFFERENCE A FEW MONTHS MAKE. IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT IT WASN’T even six months ago that Shakira and Jennifer Lopez performed for a tightly packed crowd of more than 60,000 people in Miami at the Super Bowl, while Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas picked up five Grammys at what turned out to be 2020’s last major music business gathering since COVID-19 halted live events. WBy Friday, March 13, the NBA and NHL had suspended play, the NCAA had canceled its spring tournaments, and theaters and live music venues had closed. As “safer at home” orders spread throughout the country, our homes became our offices, our schools, our daycares and our social hubs. Quickly and dramatically, life had changed. Our routines were disrupted, and we struggled to find balance. Still, the music industry was experiencing a strong start to the year. Audio streaming was growing through early March, up 20.9% over the same period in 2019. Total music consumption was up 10.8% in the first 10 weeks of the year. As working from home became a reality for many, some of the key music listening hours, such as during commutes, were disrupted. But one thing that has remained consistent as the pandemic has unfolded is entertainment’s place in helping consumers escape, relax and feel energized. In fact, in our recent consumer research studies, 73% of people said they would go crazy without entertainment during this time. Then, just as many communities began to slowly reopen, the country was shaken by the senseless May 25 killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. -
James Whitcomb Riley - Poems
Classic Poetry Series James Whitcomb Riley - poems - Publication Date: 2012 Publisher: Poemhunter.com - The World's Poetry Archive James Whitcomb Riley(7 October 1849 - 22 July 1916) James Whitcomb Riley was an American writer, poet, and best selling author. During his lifetime he was known as the Hoosier Poet and Children's Poet for his dialect works and his children's poetry respectively. His poems tended to be humorous or sentimental, and of the approximately one thousand poems that Riley authored, the majority are in dialect. His famous works include "Little Orphant Annie" and "The Raggedy Man". Riley began his career writing verses as a sign maker and submitting poetry to newspapers. Thanks in part to an endorsement from poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, he eventually earned successive jobs at Indiana newspaper publishers during the latter 1870s. Riley gradually rose in prominence during the 1880s through his poetry reading tours. He traveled a touring circuit first in the Midwest, and then nationally, holding shows and making joint appearances on stage with other famous talents. Regularly struggling with his alcohol addiction, Riley never married or had children, and was involved in a scandal in 1888 when he became too drunk to perform. He became more popular in spite of the bad press he received, and as a result extricated himself from poorly negotiated contracts that limited his earnings; he quickly became very wealthy. Riley became a bestselling author in the 1890s. His children's poems were compiled into a book and illustrated by Howard Chandler Christy. Titled the Rhymes of Childhood, the book was his most popular and sold millions of copies. -
Jerry Cantrell Jerry Cantrell
Jerry Cantrell Jerry Cantrell - vocals / guitar Robert Trujillo - bass Mike Bordin - drums From the lyrically and sonically mournful “Psychotic Break” to when the mental and musical exorcism of Jerry Cantrell's nearly 73-minute aural Degradation Trip concludes with the lovely, somnolent, bluesy strains of “Gone,” the singer/guitarist's Roadrunner debut is a sundry and sometimes scary journey to the center of a psyche. It may not always be a pretty trip, but it's a close-to-the-bone excursion that haunts both its creator and its listeners. As the multi-faceted artist relates, “In '98, I locked myself in my house, went out of my mind and wrote 25 songs,” says the then-fully-bearded Cantrell. “I rarely bathed during that period of writing; I sent out for food, I didn't really venture out of my house in three or four months. It was a hell of an experience. The album is an overview of birth to now. That's all,” he grins, though the visceral and haunting songs, by turns soaring and raw, do reflect that often-naked and sometimes-grim truth. “Boggy Depot [his 1998 solo bow] is like Kindergarten compared to this,” he furthers. “The massive sonic growth from Boggy Depot to Degradation Trip is comparable to the difference between our work in the Alice In Chains albums Facelift to Dirt, which was also a tremendous leap.” And all of Cantrell's 25 prolifically penned songs will see the light of day by 2003. Degradation Trip, which will be released June 18, is comprised of 14 songs from the personal, transcendent writing marathon that inspired such self-searching cuts as “Bargain Basement Howard Hughes,” “Hellbound,” and “Profalse Idol.” The second batch of songs—“as sad and brutal as Degradation Trip” —Cantrell promises, are due out on Roadrunner 2003. -

Albumet är inspelat i Los Angeles med albumets producent Andrew Watt på gitarr, Duff McKagan (Guns N' Roses) på bas och Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) på trummor. Ozzy berättar: “It all started when [dottern] Kelly comes in and says ‘do you want to work on a Post Malone song?’” “My first thing was ‘who the fuck is Post Malone?!’ I went to Andrew’s [Watt] house and he said we will work really quick. After we finished that song, he said ‘would you be interested in starting an album.’ I said ‘that would be fucking great, but now I am thinking I don’t want to be working in a basement studio for six months! And in just a short time, we had the album done. Duff [McKagan] and Chad [Smith] came in and we would go in and jam during the day and I would go work out the songs in the evenings. I previously had said to Sharon I should be doing an album, but in the back of my mind I was going ‘I haven’t got the fucking strength…’ but Andrew pulled it out of me. -

Joe Lynn Turner
JOE LYNN TURNER Joe Lynn Turner, is an American singer, known for his works with hard rock bands Deep Purple & Rainbow. Career In a career that spans nearly 30 years and includes over 60 album credits, Joe Lynn Turner ("JLT") remains one of rock and roll's most distinctive, soulful and expressive vocalists. Born August 2, 1951 in Hackensack, New Jersey (U.S.A.), he played the accordion as a child, grew up with an appreciation for classic Rhythm and Blues (R&B) and became an accomplished guitarist in his early teens. In fact, his first band, Filet of Soul, featured singer J.T. Taylor who would later have success with Kool and the Gang. While in high school, Joe formed Ezra, performing original material and cover songs by artists who were a great influence on him: Jimi Hendrix, Free and Deep Purple. In 1976, JLT enjoyed his first taste of national success with Fandango, a band described as an eclectic mix of R&B, pop, country, jazz and melodic rock. Turner sang and played guitar on all of the band's four albums. Fandango toured with numerous artists including The Allman Brothers, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Beach Boys and Billy Joel. After Fandango split, in the first of two incredible twists of Fate, JLT received a phone call from legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. Turner's work with Fandango prompted an audition and Blackmore was so impressed that he immediately enlisted Joe in Rainbow, a band that he formed after he left Deep Purple. Ironically, Joe spent his formative years covering Deep Purple songs and now he found himself fronting a band with two former members: Blackmore and Roger Glover.
