The status of Autonomy was granted in the year 1978 and it is one of the first set of colleges granted autonomy by UGC and the college is affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. Self-financed courses were started in the year 1983 EXCELLANCE IN BRIEF 8 departments offer M.Phil and 9 departments conduct Ph.D. research. At present,110 teaching staff members hold doctoral degree. There are 3200 students educated by the college in the present academic year.
