Nutrient-dense greens date back millions of years, and humans in the know have been eating them for centuries; green foods manufacturers commonly tout their ingredients as the energy food of ancient Mesoamericans, namely the Aztecs. The term "green foods" encompasses a range of raw materials including algae (chlorella, spirulina, etc.), grasses (alfalfa, barley grass, wheat grass, etc.) and common green vegetables (broccoli, spinach, etc.). Though each ingredient boasts its own benefits, they all pack a well-rounded nutritional punch not often found elsewhere. "Spirulina is nature's multivitamin," said John Blanco, president of AnMar International, noting the microalgae has 60-percent protein, unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin precursors, such as amino acids and proenzymes. "It's not a complete 100-percent balanced vitamin tablet, but it's pretty close." And this nutritional breakdown is similar across the green board, as the ingredients are densely filled with phytonutrients, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and nucleic acid, among other nutrients. Consumers of all demographics are becoming more aware of the benefits of eating these green superfoods; Guinevere Lynn, director of business development at Sun Chlorella, pointed to the media for the industry's popularity surge. "Mass media has certainly played a major role in this 'green renaissance,' " she explained, citing Dr. Oz's help in particular. This thesis examined factors influencing FA composition in common carp flesh, sought to develop a procedure for long-term sustainable culture of common carp with improved muscle lipid quality (omega 3 carp) and studied the health benefits of eating such carp in the secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. An approach using the bioactive compound sesamin to increase biosynthesis of EPA and DHA from alpha linolenic acid showed that addition of sesamin did not alter muscle lipid composition in common carp. Investigations of the response of carp to finishing feeding and prediction of FA changes by a dilution model revealed that fillet FA composition reflected the FA composition of the diet and was correlated to the length of the feeding period. The simple dilution model accurately predicted changes in the fillet FA composition. A procedure for long-term sustainable culture of omega 3 carp based on supplementation by pellets containing rapeseed cake and extruded linseed as a lipid source was developed and the carp were compared with fish supplemented by cereals and fish kept on natural feed (plankton and benthos) only. -

Small payloads mount to ESPA ports featuring either a Ø15-inch bolt circle with 24 fasteners or a 4-point mount with pads at each corner of a 15-inch square; both of these interfaces have become small satellite standards. Company, government and military officials here at the 35th Space Symposium, an annual space conference, have reaffirmed their plans to launch rockets ranging from more traditional heavy-lift behemoths to smaller vehicles that take advantage of new manufacturing technologies. Even if some of these schedules slip, at least one thing is apparent to several spaceflight experts here: The Eastern Range is seeing an unprecedented growth in commercial space companies and efforts.
