Welcome to our College

"Raipur Block Mahavidyalaya, a three-year general degree college (Co-Education), situated at the heart of JANGAL MAHAL at Raipur Block of . This college is permanently affiliated under the University of Burdwan (Memo No IC/Affln/P/185/560 dated 16th September 2010) and approved by the Higher Education Department of Government of West Bengal [Order No.677(2)Edn(CS)/4C-62/10, dated Kolkata, the 25th August 2010]. The college is now under the affiliation of newly formed state aided Bankura University as per order of the honourable Governor of West Bengal (Order No. RO/BKU/33/2017) w.e.f. January 2017. This college is not just an ordinary degree college in the map of higher education in our state, but a candle of hope between scheduled and non-scheduled tribal people. Most of the students are from tribal family and of below poverty level. Maximum parts of students of this college are first generation learner. We provide higher study maintaining level of national standard after taking into account of economic condition of local pupil. History at a Glance

The college was a noble initiative of educated people of Raipur Block. They formed an organizing committee without taking into account of political colours for the purpose. Ex-MLA and ex-minister of West Bengal Government, Sri Upen Kisku selected as the President of Organizing Committee. The college started its journey with lots of hope in the year 2010 with only 32 students and 5(five) Part-Time faculty members. At the beginning, there was no permanent college building. Considering the appeal of the organizing committee for establishment of the college own building, local village people donated two barren land. Then both lands were full of stones and less soil. Total area donated at that time is 10.38 acre (7.92 acre in Kharigeria Mouza and 2.46 acre in Belpahari Mouza). With the money collected as donation from various sources and local villagers, a two storied building of 8 rooms was constructed. The University of Burdwan approved an Ad-hoc Governing Body for smooth running of college administration. Sri Shyamsundar Sinha Mahapatra elected as the first President of Ad-hoc Governing body and Sri Birendranath Ghosh taken the responsibility to act as Teacher-in-Charge of the college. In 2014, college administration decided to build another two classrooms. Meanwhile 7(seven) permanent non- teaching stuff and 1(One) casual non-teaching stuff appointed by following instructions of the Government of West Bengal. As per approval of the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal and kind recommendations of West Bengal College Service Commission, 7(seven) Assistant Professors recruited in 7(seven) subjects throughout the year 2014-2015. Smt. Parbati Kisku, Assistant Professor of Santali, taken the responsibility of Teacher-in-Charge as senior most Assistant Professor from the then acting Teacher-in- Charge Sri Rajesh Kumar Das Mandal, a Government Approved Part-Time Teacher of History. Smt. Afsana Parvin, Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Smt. Suchismita De, Assistant Professor of Political Science also shouldered the responsibility of Teacher-in-Charge respectively till December 2015. Sri Anandamoy Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor of Bengali taken charge of the college on 16th December 2015 to 30.04.2021 Sri Baladeb Mandal, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit taken charge of the college on 01.05.2021 and playing his role till date. Lt. Sri Anil Mahata was the first elected President of the Regular Governing Body.

Online Admission Procedure

I. As per the instruction of the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal, admission will be made through online procedure. For admissdion to the UG courses, there should not be a gap of more than 03(Three) years between the year of H.S. examination and the year of admission to UG course of study. In respect of calculation of marks, no deduction should be made in case of candidates passing out in previous years. Candidate will have the opportunity of registering his/her name through the admission portal available in our college website (www.raipurblockmahavidyalaya.net or www.admissionrbm.in ) Eligibility: a. Honours Degree Course: All candidates who have obtained at least 45% marks in 10+2 examination are eligible to apply for the Honours Degree Course. N.B.: b. Programme Course: All pass candidates are eligible to apply for the General Degree course.

Choice Based Credit System :

Choice Based Credit System will be maintained for the academic session 2021-2022

II. A student is required to fill up the mandatory fields in the registration form and submit. No payment is required for registration.  The Mobile number that will be used while applying It is better to have WhatsApp connection and this mobile number cannot be changed during the three years of course. Documents to be uploaded by the Students while filling up the online application form :-

a. Admit card & Mark-sheet of Madhyamik Exam b. Mark sheet of Higher Secondary Exam c. Caste Certificate (Where necessary). d. PH certificate (Where necessary).

III. Applicant has to fill one registration form for Honours and Programme (General) both courses.

IV. Students have to Apply Online from 02 .08.2021 to 20.08.2021. After the application process is complete the applicant needs to wait for the merit lists.

1st merit list (Provisional) for admission will be published on : 22.08.2021 after 2 P.M. in our admission portal.

After the publication of provisional merit list, If there is any problem to find his/her name in the list, students have to contact with college through mail or help line number within 23.08.2021.

The 1st Final merit list will be published on : 24.08.2021 after 2 P.M. in our admission portal.

V. After verifying his/ her name in the merit list the applicant is required to deposit the stipulated admission fees followed in the same way as mentioned before. Several merit lists will be published consecutively. VI. After commencement of classes, if any discrepancy is found regarding any document or other details of any candidate, his/ her candidature will be treated as cancelled and his/ her admission fees will be forfeited in total. VII. Students will be admitted purely on the basis of merit in Core (Honors) and Programme (General) Courses. VIII. Merit lists will be prepared based on the marks obtained in best five subjects (any five). IX. Combination subjects cannot be changed for Programme (General) Courses. Students are suggested to go through the subject dropdown menu carefully before choosing the combination subjects.

Courses of Study (Three Year Degree) Core (Honours) Subjects: English, Bengali, Sanskrit, Political Science, History, Philosophy, Education. Santhali General Subjects (Generic Elective): Any subject from the list of Arts Honours subjects Programme Course (Pure Pass): Above-mentioned subjects and Physical Education. MIL : Bengali or Sanskrit or Santhali.

Notable: As per Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) a B.A. Honours (Core) student has to take an elective subject (GE) & Environmental Science as Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course (AECC) along with his/her Honours (Core) subject.

B.A. General (Programme) student has to take two elective subjects (Programme), a Modern Indian Language (MIL) & Environmental Science (AECC). MIL could be either Bengali or Sanskrit or Santhali.

Intake capacity (With reservation) Reservation of Seats:

Reservation of seats will be made as per norms of the West Bengal Government-SC (22%), ST (06%), OBC-A (10%), OBC-B (7%), differently-abled candidates 5% of each category (GEN/SC/ST/OBC-A/ and OBC-B). For differently-abled candidate minimum disability of at least 40% will be considered.

We have a well-equipped library with more than 6,000 volumes of books for the students. Books on demand for reading are available in the Students' Reading Room or they may be borrowed for home study. Both English and Bengali daily newspapers are available in the Library Reading Room.

Virtual Classroom

The college has one Virtual Class Room.

N.S.S Unit The college has two NSS wings run by very efficient teachers, where the students get the opportunity to participate in community service. It helps in developing their personality through enriched experiences and builds a positive social awareness. All the units organize various programs throughout the year, like blood donation camps, health checkup camps etc. Though participation in the scheme is optional for the students, it is desirably recommended for building their holistic attitude.

Career Counseling Cell

This cell is guided by the efficient and knowledgeable teachers in this field. The former as well as present students of this College both can enrich themselves with feedback provided by this cell for admission in courses related to higher studies and suitable job opportunities.

Personal Counseling Cell

This is a recent addition to the infrastructural corpus of this college. The former as well as present students of this College both can be benefitted under the guidance of some senior faculty members who will be available for addressing their personal problems free of cost. Grievance Redressal Cell & Sexual Harassment Cell :

This is also a recent addition to the infrastructural corpus of this college. Students can communicate their grievances, if any, to members of this cell, which will be redressed duly.

Anti Ragging Cell Although incidents of ragging have never occurred in the campus, the college has formed an anti-ragging cell as per the UGC norms, which is guided by strict rules. Any incident of ragging will be dealt with strictly, which may include rustication from college. Magazine

The college publishes an excellent and up-to-date literary Magazine every year, which is enriched by the literary contributions of the students and staff as well. Departmental Wall Magazines are also published from time to time. Parent-Teacher Meeting

A subject-wise parent-teacher meeting is held for the academic purpose of the Honors students at least once in an academic year. A women's Cell

A Women's Cell has been formed for all round development of the students.
