A EuroPacketCable 2.0 E-DVA is a EuroPacketCable Digital Voic e Adapter (DVA) embedded in a EuroDOCSIS Cable Modem (CM). The specification takes into account specific requirements to the HFC access network and the telephony services platform deployed in Europe. Additionally, requirements are specified in order to allow operation of the EuroPacketCable 2.0 E-DVA both in PacketCable™ 2.0-c ompliant and other SIP-based core network architectures such as specified by 3GPP [TS24.229]. In the development of this specification every effort was taken to align the requirements for a EuroPacketCable 2.0 E-DVA with those for a PacketCable™ 2.0 E-DVA as specified by CableLabs® in its Pac ketCable™ 2.0 and PacketCable™ Residential SIP Telephony specifications. As such, this document is a delta spec ific ation referencing the requirements contained in the corresponding PacketCable™ 2.0 and PacketCable™ Residential SIP Telephony specifications while modifying or enhancing them where necessary. 2 Compliance Notation Throughout this document, the words used to provide normative statements are capitalized as shown below: MUST This word or the adjective “REQUIRED” means that the item is an absolute requirement of this specification. Sandvine was recently named to the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 list of fastest growing technology companies in North America. Sandvine is the global leader in network policy control solutions. Sandvine’s solutions make the Internet better by protecting and improving the Internet experience for subscribers. The solutions comprise network equipment and software that help cable, DSL, FTTx, fixed wireless and mobile operators understand network traffic and trends, mitigate network congestion, protect the quality of experience for sensitive applications, offer subscribers new services, mitigate malicious traffic, and improve customer service. Sandvine’s technology is used by more than 180 Internet service provider customers in over 70 countries, including over 60 service providers in the United States alone, almost half of which are cable broadband operators. Together, Sandvine’s customers serve over 80 million fixed line broadband subscribers and more than 200 million mobile subscribers. Matt Tooley is a veteran of the broadband networking equipment and cable industries and is currently Sandvine’s Vice‐president of Consulting Solutions.
