Phase 2: Station Road closure, diversion, improvement works and daytime material deliveries (Monday 26 October to Saturday 19 December 2020) Station Road requires improvement before the main construction works of the new railway commence. A new asphalt surface overlay and 6 lorry sized passing bays will be created. This work is required to ensure the road is safe for public users of the highway and construction traffic during the construction of HS2. At the start of Phase 2 Station Road will be closed for the following periods between the 26 October and 19 December: • Full time closure each week between Monday 9am and remaining closed until Saturday 7am • Station Road will be open as normal each weekend outside of these times For this phase of works Station Road needs to be closed to allow for material deliveries to be made by day and for Station Road to be constructed by night. Each week a section of Station Road will be repaired, resurfaced and opened again to the public by 7am the following Saturday morning. The A41 will not be affected by these works during this phase of works, being maintained as two-way flow. The signposted diversion used in phase 1 will remain in place, please see the attached map. The bus service will continue to be diverted to avoid the closed section of Station Road. During the phase 2 works emergency services and farmer field access along Station Road will not be permitted during weekday nights between 9pm and 6am. During these periods the diversion route will have to be used. To complete the works, we will need to; • Construct 6 passing bays along the length of Station Road • Improve highway drainage • Repair the road surface and overlay with new asphalt for the full width and length of the Station Road closure • Install new road signage and complete road line marking The overlay surfacing and passing bay works will begin on 26 October 2020. Station Road will be temporarily reopened to public traffic by 19 December 2020 for the holiday period. A further closure in the new year will be required to complete phase 2, if required, and then to undertake phase 3.
