This was a fantastic baseline attack by Cofer. One way to attack a shot blocker is to go right through his chest and that’s what he (Cofer) did right there. Very impressive, athletic play by Phil Cofer.”…a four-star recruit and the No. 56 overall high school basketball prospect in the nation in 2014 according to ESPN…the No. 8 overall ranked prospect in the talent-laden state of Georgia by the Phenom Hoop Report as a high school senior…the No. 6 ranked prospect in the class of 2014 by Georgia Hoops…one of five players from the state of Georgia who Florida State coaching staff at the Seminoles’ 2015 season-ending honors banquet… AS A SOPHOMORE (2016): Averaged 3.8 points, 2.0 rebounds 0.4 steals and 0.3 blocked shots while shooting .565 from the field in limited playing time because of an ankle injury…played in Florida State’s first 11 games of the season (all before the Christmas Holiday break) and is expected to be granted a medical redshirt season giving him three more years to play as a Seminole…was a starter in Florida State’s first three games of the season (in victories against Nicholls State and Jacksonville and against Hofstra) and was a top reserve in his final eight games of the season…following the Seminoles’ victory over Charleston Southern on Dec. 21 he, along with Florida State’s coaching staff, decided to have surgery on a bothersome ankle and put an end to his season…he underwent surgery on Jan. 4, 2016 and did not play in any of the Seminoles’ remaining games…scored his season high of nine points in Florida State’s season-opening victory over Nicholls State (Nov. 15) and in the Seminoles’ victory at home against Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 13)…scored at least two points in nine of the 11 games shots from the field (.750 percent) and three of four shots from the free throw line (.750)…his nine-point performance against Southeastern Louisiana included two of three shots (.667 percent) made from the field and five of shots (.833 percent) made from the free throw line…shot .842 from the free throw line as he was perfect in victories over Jacksonville (two-of-two, 1.000 percent), VCU (two-of-two, 1.000 percent) and Mississippi State (two of two, 1.000 percent)…averaged 3.3 points in those three games with four points against Jacksonville, four against VCU and two against Mississippi State…was 16 of 19 from the free throw line in limited playing time as he worked tremendously hard to improve his stroke from the free throw line…shot .842 from the free throw line in limited playing time as compared to .632 from the free throw line during 34 games as a freshman – an improvement of improvement of 21 percentage points…(In three games during the Paradise Jam): Averaged 2.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.3 rebounds in three games against Hofstra of the Colonial Athletic Association, DePaul of the Big East and Ohio of the Mid-American Conference during the Paradise Jam…averaged 10.0 minutes per game and shot .750 percent from the field (three-of-four) as Florida State finished in fourth place in the event with a 2-1 record…earned one assist, one blocked shot and one steal in the three-game series…(vs. Hofstra): Scored zero points but pulled down five rebounds and earned one steal in Florida State’s opening round game of the Paradise Jam at the University of the Virgin Islands…a starter who earned 12 minutes of playing time as Hofstra rallied to take an 82-77 victory (Nov. 20)…his five rebounds were tied for the team-high with Malik Beasley as the Seminoles led by six in the first half but trailed by a 41-35 margin at the intermission…Florida State fell despite outscoring the Pride by a 42-41 margin in the second half…(vs. DePaul): Scored six points and pulled down one rebound in 14 minutes of playing time as the Seminoles defeated DePaul, 83-67, in the second round of the Paradise Jam (Nov. 21)…was a perfect three-of-three from the field as Florida State shot .529 from the field for the game…totaled two first half points on a jumper at the 5:42 mark to give Florida State a 27-17 lead...the Seminoles led by a 43-26 margin at
