BGBGBGB Sara was baptised in the Parish of Hartford on 19th July 1874. (Some written documents write her name as Sarah). In the 1881 Census she was aged 6 years, and she was living with her parents in Littledales Lane. At the time of the 1891 Census Sara was 16 years old, and was still living with her parents in Littledales Lane. She was employed as a pupil teacher of elementary subjects but it is not known at which school she taught. th On 9 August1899 she married Henry John Ford, a widower. Henry John Ford was baptised at Holy Trinity Church, Castle, Northwich on 10th April 1859. He was the son of John (a labourer) and Ann Ford of Hartford. In the 1881 Census he was living at 31 Chapel Street, Castle. He was Clerk to the Registrar of Northwich County Court. On 19th September 1882 Henry John Ford married Emily Bretherton at Great Budworth Church. They were both living on Castle at the time. Henry was aged 23 and was a Solicitors Clerk. Emily was aged 22 and she was a School Mistress. It is likely that they lived in Darwin Street, Northwich. Emily was only 37 when she died. Emily Ford of Darwin Street, Northwich was buried at Witton Church, Northwich on 31st March 1897. SARA HINDLEY (1874-1932) 1874SARA/2 The marriage was recorded at Weaverham Parish Church. Henry John Ford’s father was John Ford, a Dredging Superintendent. Sara’s father, Samuel, was recorded as a Gamekeeper. Sara’s brother, George, and her sister, Jane, were witnesses. Front Row, L to R: Susannah; Samuel; Jane and Sara. Sara married in 1889 so it is possible that the photo was taken in the late 1880s. Judging from the 1901 and 1911 Censuses it looks as though Sara gave up her teaching job about the time of her marriage. She became a housewife and helped to look after two children from Henry John’s first marriage. Sara had a child of her own in 1901. The birth of Margery Ford was registered at Northwich in the third quarter of 1901. Marjorie of 3 Darwin Street, Hartford Hill, Northwich was baptised in the Parish of Weaverham on 14th July 1901. Her birth date, 25th June 1901, was also written in the Baptism Register. Her parents were listed as Henry John and Sara. It is not known if Sara had any other children.     LCT 5: UNDULATING ENCLOSED FARMLAND General Description This character type is defined by undulating topography and the associated small to medium scale enclosure into which it is divided. Key characteristics are the generally cohesive and un-fragmented historic landscape in the south of the borough, small woodlands, ponds and streams, nucleated rural villages and scattered farmsteads. Land use is mainly pasture. Away from main roads, railways and settlement the landscape is generally quiet and rural. Views within this type very much depend upon location and the nature of the immediate topography. There is a range of monuments from Bronze Age barrows to post medieval canal locks. The character type is found across a large part of the Cheshire West and Chester borough; to the east between Northwich and the Sandstone Ridge and in the south of the borough. Visual Character The location of this landscape type is reflected in the prevailing views which extend to adjacent character areas, either out over the low-lying plain or up towards the often dominant Sandstone Ridge. Roads typically follow the rolling topography, offering extensive views from high vantage points out over the immediate field pattern and extending to the high ground in the far distance such as the Pennines in the east. Long distance views are sometimes affected by large scale industrial works in adjacent areas. LCT 5: Undulating Enclosed Farmland 138 From low ground the landscape appears smaller in scale due to the increase in enclosure and the contained views where skylines are typically formed by hedgerow trees, woodland and farmsteads, with occasional electricity pylons and church spires.

    NEW YEAR’S EVE 2021 Last New Year’s Eve was the first time for more than 50 years that a celebra- tion open to all villagers did not taken place in Great Budworth! The event has been celebrated in a great variety of ways over the years, usually in the Parish Hall, although at least once in the open on a frosty evening in Church Street. It has usually involved shared food and drinks, sometimes games, dancing, music - and frequently entertainment put on by those attending, but most recently by a magician. February 2021 In each of the past eight years volunteers from the village have organised food and drinks, decorations and activities for around 45 villagers every New Year’s Eve in the Parish Hall. The organisers over those years have been five ladies, one in her 90s, two in their 80s and two in their 70s. Some of us think the time has come to hang up our boots! It wasn’t all bad! So we are hoping that some maybe younger people will come forward to get involved in organizing the village’s New Year’s Eve celebration in 2021!     he Parish Council has taken the decision to hold no further face T to face meetings until further notice. There are no urgent decisions to be made at present and so nothing is being neglected. The only item of business that needs to be carried out is the internal audit. Our Parish Clerk, Gill Ayres, has completed the checklist and has forwarded it to the auditor, along with the relevant document- ation. Our thanks go to Gill for carrying out what is usually a paper- based activity in electronic form. It was no trivial matter! The external audit has been delayed and the Annual Governance and Accountability May 2020 Return (AGAR), usually due in July, will not now need to be published until September. Our thanks go to those residents who have responded to our request in the last Bulletin for people’s views on the possibility of introducing double yellow lines in certain parts of the village. There is still time to submit opinions on this (see April’s Bulletin for details) as the Council will not be taking the matter any further until it can once again hold meetings in the Parish Hall which members of the public can also, as usual, attend. Library Services All libraries are closed and the mobile library service has been discontinued for the duration of the current crisis. Edward Townshend Logan, who was born in Valparaiso, Chile, on 6 November 1865 was the first child and eldest son of magistrate and copper merchant Edward and Emily Logan. Chile is a major producer of copper with most mining being in the Norte Grande region which spans most of the Atacama Desert. Whilst nothing is known of the parentage of Edward snr it is known that he married Emily Eliza Townshend of Wincham Hall, north of Northwich, at St Mary’s Church, Great Budworth, in 1865. Emily was a daughter (born April 1841, baptised at Great Budworth 24 July 1843) of Lee Porcher Townshend and Emma Jane Townshend; in the 1861 census Lee Porcher Townshend was described as being a retired army officer, magistrate Wincham Hall in about 1900. The Hall, much altered, and Deputy Lieutenant of Cheshire. is now a hotel and wedding venue. It is recorded (1911 census) that Edward and Emily had 11 children of whom, in 1911, 7 were still living.
