MCEF AnnualReport 06 3/30/07 10:14 AM Page 2 2006 MCEF Annual Report Dear IIMC Members and MCEF Supporters: Since its inception in 1984, your Municipal Clerks Education Foundation has been steadily working toward raising monies to assist IIMC in pursuing its educational objectives. Through the generosity of IIMC members, voluntary contributions, the annual walk/run, the silent auction, sponsor donations and endowments, MCEF culminated 2006 by reaching its $1 million milestone. This is just the beginning. Although the $1 million mark was indeed a lofty goal, we can't stop and rest on our laurels. We have to continue to grow the Foundation basis to fund existing and new programs being proposed for the IIMC Membership. It is estimated that 45 percent of IIMC's Membership is contributing to MCEF through in-kind and monetary contributions. This percentage has steadily increased over the years. MCEF's goal is to have 100 percent participation from the IIMC Membership. Our sponsors have been generous over the past several years and their contributions have helped us exceed our goals. The MCEF Strategic Plan anticipated our 2006 basis to be $1,045,524.00. Year end 2006 basis was $1,177,056.80. We are well on our way to exceed our 2007 and 2008 goals. The current giving programs in place are: • Annual giving to IIMC in accordance to the MCEF Board Policy. This policy allows MCEF to give up to 7 percent of the unrestricted funds, less inflation, to IIMC for educational programs each year. This year the amount was $27,071.61. • Scholarship programs for CMC training at your State Institute. • Scholarship program for MMC training. • Distance Education Scholarships. We are on course to meet our 2008 goals. With your help, we can continue to strive • State Grants (Up to four a year). toward another million dollars while In 2006, MCEF approved an additional $25,000 toward IIMC's simultaneously establishing a Foundation Annual Conference, helping with speaker fees and educational that will provide a steady stream of funds programs as well as co-sponsoring the IIMC Distance Learning web site. for the future education of IIMC Members. During the latter part of 2006, IIMC asked MCEF for financial assis- tance, which the Foundation was happy to provide a line of credit. This loan has a one-year term and is secured by the Headquarters building. MCEF expects IIMC to repay the loan with interest within the next 12 months. The charts on page 3 depict the various ways in which MCEF derives its income and the channels in which it delivers education programs to IIMC members. The two Organizations have a symbiotic relationship with one common goal: to pro- vide education support and programs for IIMC members. INCOME The Foundation collaborates with IIMC to provide the utmost in programs operating from only the interest gained, and a small percentage of the unrestricted fund basis as established by policy, from the various contributions accumulated throughout the year. MCEF receives annual revenue through voluntary contributions from IIMC members, Endowments, Society Donations, Memorials, and from Annual Conference events such as the Silent Auction, Walk Run, and Raffles. MCEF also receives 20 percent of all sponsorship revenue garnered by IIMC. OPERATING EXPENSE/CONTRIBUTIONS As part of that working relationship, an annual contract with IIMC provides the Foundation with general administrative support, development/fundraising activity, donor relations and marketing services. - 2 - MCEF AnnualReport 06 3/30/07 10:14 AM Page 3 2006 MCEF Annual Report Municipal Clerks Education Foundation Endowed Education Funds And Scholarships American Legal Publishing Corporation Municipal Code Corporation Education Fund Education Fund Tallahassee, Florida Cincinnati, Ohio Robert T. • The Evolution of Lady Gaga
Master’s Thesis 2019 The Evolution of Lady Gaga - And the different performance identities By Nanna Ørslev Andersen Supervisor Mia Rendix AALBORG UNIVERSITY DET HUMANISTISKE FAKULTET Nanna Ørslev Andersen 3-06-2019 Master’s Thesis Aalborg University Abstract The overall topic of the thesis is how Lady Gaga thematically expresses performativity and how she performs different identities in order to conclude if she has gone through a change concerning her performance identities from her first studio album and until her latest album. The thesis aims to analyze within a thematically framework on how Lady Gaga expresses performativity and performance identities focusing on gender and sexuality. Besides, it will highlight how she has developed as a performer concerning her identities throughout her work. Moreover, it will analyze whether Lady Gaga is aware of her performativity in her visual appearance. Therefore, this thesis aims to discuss whether Lady Gaga’s lyrics and visual appearances have changed since the beginning. The theoretical framework of the thesis is based on the American philosopher Judith Butler’s gender theory about performativity by analyzing Lady Gaga’s way of performing performativity in terms of gender, sexuality, and identity in her songs and music videos. Judith Butler’s interests lie in the social gender, and she points out that an individual’s gender is defined by its performativity. Hence, by working with this theory, it will examine how Lady Gaga’s performance identities highlight the fact that Judith Butler claims that gender cannot be determined from the beginning since according to Judith Butler, changes throughout life concerning one’s surroundings and behavior.
