Subscribing to a Google

The only thing you’ll need in order to subscribe to one of the production is a Google ID, which is free and easy to create. If you already have a gmail account, then that is your Google ID.

1. Head over to www.google.com/calendar and Log In. If you do not yet have a Google Account, click on the button labeled “Create an account” and follow the instructions.

2. Clicking on one of the HTML calendar links will bring up a Read‐Only version of that calendar. Any changes made to the calendar will automatically be updated on this Read‐Only version‐ the link remains the same. In the following examples we’ll be looking at the calendar for The Women of Lockerbie.

You will note that calendars that are active are labeled in bold, while those that are inactive are grayed out. To make a calendar active or inactive, all you have to do is click on it in your calendar list.

Image 3 also highlights where to go in order to change views. Google calendar can display in , , , Multi‐Day, and Agenda views; try them out to see which you prefer.

5. You also have the option of changing the appearance of calendars by clicking on the small drop down arrow next to the name of the calendar in your list, as shown in Image 4. You can select any color shown in the menu.

Please keep in mind that while you can change how the calendar appears, you still won’t be able to make any changes to the calendar itself‐ an can’t be deleted by anyone other than an administrator.

Once you’ve subscribed to a calendar, any time you log in to Google Calendar you will be able to see it‐ just go back to www.google.com/calendar and every calendar you are subscribed to will automatically show up in your calendar list.

6. Once the show has closed, you may not want to see the calendar anymore. You can either choose to “Hide this calendar from the list,” an option on the menu in Image 4, or you can Unsubscribe. In order to do this, click on “Settings” as shown in Image 5:

Once you’ve clicked on “Settings” as shown in Image 5, you will bring up a separate page with calendar options, shown in Image 6. By clicking on “Unsubscribe” you will no longer have a particular calendar show up in your list.

If you are an administrator, please be aware that clicking on “Delete” completely erases the calendar, not just from your own list of calendars but in its entirety. Please only delete a calendar if you are absolutely certain you should do so.

That’s all there is to it.
