What do you do in the face of impending doom?

It is 1939.

On a far outlying Scottish island, two young naturalists arrive to conduct a wildlife survey on behalf of the government.

When the islands inhabitants inadvertently reveal the true reason for the survey, the young men are drawn into a dark primeval world of raw emotion, voyeurism and murder while the outside world teeters on the brink of war.

David Greig was born in in 1969. He spent much of his childhood in Jos, during the 1970’s where his father worked in the construction industry. His plays have been performed in major theatres across Britain including the Traverse Theatre, , and by the Royal Shakespeare Company. His plays include The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart (McKittrick Hotel, New York 2016), a new version of August Strindberg’s The Father adapted for Theatre for a New Audience, and The Cosmonaut's Last Message To The Woman He Once Loved In The Former Soviet Union (1999).

His work often deals with a yearning for connection between characters, despite enormous personal, social, cultural and political distances between them; international and global links; great value placed on imagination, creativity, and wonder.

SUGARGLASS is an international theatre company founded in Dublin in 2012. It is committed to the creation of new work, the reexpression of established writing, and theatre art that is visually striking. Not defined by one style, its productions challenge form while maintaining respect for the fundamentals of good theatre: necessary stories, great performances, and the unique magic of the live event.

Marc Atkinson Marc is a director from Ireland, the UK and Catalonia. Marc co-founded Sugarglass whose work has toured internationally. Productions include the Irish premiere of Philip Ridley’s Tender Napalm; All Hell Lay Beneath, named a “Cultural Highlight of 2012” by The Irish Times; and Ethica – a production of Beckett shorts for International Human Rights Day in Ireland and Bulgaria, by invitation of the Irish President. Marc recently directed Outlying Islands by David Greig in NYC; worked as a directing assistant for Ivo Van Hove at Toneelgroep Amsterdam; and was the assistant director for No’s Knife at in London. Marc is the winner of the Jennifer Johnston Directing Bursary and was awarded the Tuckerman and Shubert Presidential Scholarships for directing. Marc graduated with an MFA from Columbia University in 2016, under the mentorship of Anne Bogart.

Colm McNally Colm Mc Nally is an award winning lighting and set designer based between Ireland and the USA. A recent graduate of the MFA in stage design program at The Lir, Dublin, Colm is one of the founding members of Sugarglass Theatre. To date he has been the lead designer on all Sugarglass productions. Outside of the company Colm works closely with multiple other artists and companies in varying roles, Collaborators include Collapsing Horse Theatre Company, Maria Nillson-Waller and Gúna Núa Theatre company. In addition to his design work Colm also orgs in a technical capacity in the theatre having worked as chief electrician at the Gate Theatre Dublin, Production manager for 10 Days in Dublin Arts Festival and Master Site Carpenter for the Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe. Colm’s work has been described as: “suberbly designed”, “exceptional use of space” – Irish theatre Magazine, “too beautiful” – The Irish Times.

Darren Sinnott Darren is a freelance producer and a production coordinator for Smuggler, a film, TV, commercial, and theatre production company. He is currently working on The Kid Stays in The Picture with Simon McBurney, star of ‘The Encounter’ on Broadway, which will make its debut next year at the Royal Court Theatre in London. Previously Darren has worked in marketing at The Public Theatre helping to manage productions such as Privacy, Eclipsed, the Gabriels Cycle, and Shakespeare in the Park among others.

Leon Ingulsrud helped found SITI Company and serves along with Anne Bogart and Ellen Lauren, as Co-Artistic director. Previously Leon was a member of the Suzuki Company Of Toga. He has taught in workshops, residencies and universities around the world, and served as artistic director of Swine Palace in Baton Rouge LA. Mr. Ingulsrud holds an MFA in directing from Columbia, translates Japanese contemporary plays and appears on AMC’s Hell On Wheels.

Maeve O’Mahony is a graduate of Drama and Theatre Studies at Trinity College Dublin. Productions to date include: LOVE+, Project Arts Centre (Winner of the Tiger Dublin Fringe Spirit of the Fringe); Boys and Girls, Teatr Mayakovskya, 59E59 Theatre, Project Arts Centre; The Seagull, Shapiro Hall; The Sorrows, Rose Garden Theatre; All Talk, New Theatre; Ethica, Enniskillen Beckett Festival, Aras an Uachtaráin, Samuel Beckett Theatre, National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts Sofia. Other performances in the Samuel Beckett Theatre include: On Raftery’s Hill, pool (no water), The Blind, A Midsummer Nights Dream, and Leaves of Glass. Screen credits include Ripper Street (BBC America).

Peter Corboy is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin where he studied Drama and Theatre Studies. His previous credits include Our Island (Mirari Productions/The Abbey), Far Away From Me (The Ark), At Sea (Just the Lads), Assassins (Rough Magic), The Critic (Rough Magic), The Last Post (Just the Lads), Ethica: Four Shorts by Samuel Beckett (Sugarglass Theatre/NATFIZ Sofia), Life in Our Blood (Irish Student Drama Awards) and Once a Catholic (Bare Cheek Theatre Company). In 2014 he won the Irish Student Drama Award for Best Actor, and in 2015 was nominated for Best Actor at the Dublin Fringe Festival.

Eoghan Quinn Composer/Musician) is a theatre-maker and musician from Dublin, Ireland. He lives in New York, and is a MacCracken Fellow at NYU, pursuing a PhD in English literature. He is a founding member of Collapsing Horse Theatre, with whom he has written and performed in a number of plays in Ireland, Edinburgh and London (Bears in Space, Soho Theatre, London, 2015 and revived January 2016; Monster Clock, National Tour and Irish Times ‘Best Children's Theatre,’ 2012). collapsinghorsetheatre.com

Lester St. Louis (Cellist/Saxophonist/Composer) is a New York born and based Cellist and Composer. Lester's work focuses in improvisation, theory, composition and practice in order to create situations in art and life that present new possibilities and open space to re-examine the known. Lester is also interested in the potential of infinite self-generating ideas and inspiration through all interactions.
