Takter, in Canada for the big stakes this weekend at Mohawk Raceway, got the report that See You At Peelers was still not right after a training session at his farm in New Jersey. "Marcus (Johansson) trained her today and he said something is not right with her," Takter said. Takter was hoping the superstar filly could rebound to make a New York Sires Stakes engagement on Monday night at Yonkers Raceway. See You At Peelers was immediately scratched from the Yonkers race, and the hunt for answers continues. By all outward indications, See You At Peelers is sound. Whatever has thrown her off her game is internal. And that's the frustrating part. Takter had planned to send her to the Cornell University Veterinary Center for a stress test earlier this week. He worried about subjecting her to a demanding high-speed test, and opted to pass on the examination. Now there isn't any choice. See You At Peelers will head to Cornell on Sept. 26 with Takter by her side to monitor the process. "I was a little bit scared of it," Takter said of the stress test. "They put the horse up to :51 speed. I'm still a little scared of it but I think I have to find out what's actually going on with her at high speed. I've never had a horse do this stress test, so I really don't know what it does. It's new to me, so I have to be sure I'm up there when they do it. In the first 22 racing days since Pena last competed at Yonkers, the nightly average all-sources handle has been $744,606. In the last 22 racing days he competed there the average nightly handle was $705,730. Since Pena has been gone, handle has risen $38,876 per night or by 5.5 percent. The 22-days-versus-22 days comparison is not a perfect one. Parts of it include nights when Yonkers was compet- ing against the Meadowlands and some nights occurred after the Big M closed. Yonkers also lost some cards in the post-Pena era due to Hurricane Irene that might have had large handles.
