Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least. -

This time around we have the Ian Hunter Band featuring Mick Ronson. This is a full- screen presentation with decent stereo sound. Once again, we have the song titles at the bottom of the screen for the beginning of each song, which is annoying the first couple times, but you get adjusted to it during the In Home Music Lessons concerts running time. (Mark played with rock and R&B bands in high school, and had a rock band for a while in college in addition to Infinity Plus Three.) Mark wrote six songs; contributed guitar, bass, harmonica, and vocals; and co-produced with Doug Milheim. While this release may sound amateurish 40-plus years later, it was similar in quality to most “Jesus music” of the period, and Mark’s lyrics reveal an interest in metaphor, a capacity for introspection, and a careful choice of words. In the liner notes to Appalachian Melody, Mark recounted that not long after Setting Yesterday Free was released, “I was getting tired of the stereotypes surrounding Christian music, so I left the group and began performing solo.” It was not the last time he would make such a decision. The custom LP was reissued on Spirit Records in 1972, and a CD-R version was released in 1998. IAN HUNTER BIOGRAPHY 2014 As leader of ‘70’s British rock legends Mott The Hoople and a hugely influential solo artist, Ian Hunter is widely revered as one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most compelling performers, as well as one of it’s most articulate songwriters. As author of such immortal anthems as, “All The Way From Memphis”, “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” and “Cleveland Rocks” and the voice of such landmark albums as, “All The Young Dudes”, “Mott”, “Ian Hunter” and “You’re Never Alone With A Schizophrenic”, he remains a hero to fellow musicians and fans around the world. Whilst his achievements during his first decade as a recording artist would have been more than enough to ensure his iconic status, Hunter has never been one to coast on past glories. Indeed, in the past dozen years, he’s made a series of riveting albums that stand with his best and most resonant work, while making a decisive return to touring, delivering incendiary live performances that show his fire to be burning as brightly as ever. He was already a veteran of the London music scene by the time he joined Mott The Hoople in 1969.
