The the Poidevin-Gray and AW Green Shield committee is a very hardworking team with competitions. EVERY member contributing to the betterment of the Club. Anyone who visits Manly Oval on a At the start of the season many people both inside Saturday will see Fiona Lyon doing at fantastic job and outside of the Club thought we would struggle in the canteen. having lost so many experienced players who had either retired or moved onto pastures new. If you have been to any of the first grade matches, you will have seen David Gardiner doing a great To all of those I say have a look at this…….. job looking after the lads. This, along with many other roles within the club, contributed towards the 1st Grade – 5th place in 2 Day competition decision to award Loz the Keith Marks „Clubman 5th place in 1 Day competition of the Year‟ award and very well deserved it is 10th place in T20 competition too. 2nd Grade – Minor Premiers & Runners-up There are many others who do magnificent jobs (defeated in the final by Syd Uni) which at time go unnoticed, too many to mention. I would, however, like to bring to everyone‟s 3rd Grade – 3rd place attention the enormous amount of work that Greg Boyer, better known as Pathway Pat, has done 4th Grade – Runners-up (defeated in the final by this year managing the „Pathway Program‟, I Sutherland) honestly do not how he finds the time!. 5th Grade – 7th place Another tireless worker is Joel Mason. AUSTRALIA V. NEW ZEALAND DECEMBER 28, 2019 BOXING DAY TEST FACT SHEET - DAY 3 Australia and New Zealand have only met in Tests at the MCG on three previous occasions. The MCC library fact sheets for each of the first three days of this match will highlight one of those contests. Today's sheet reviews the Third Test of the 1987/88 series. ‘The 1987/88 New Zealand tour’ The New Zealanders embarked on the two-month tour in mid-November less than three weeks after returning from the World Cup in India, faced with a challenging itinerary of 19 matches, including three Tests, three first-class matches and 10 one-day internationals. The touring party, however, was an internationally-hardened and settled combination, despite the absence of the recently-retired Jeremy Coney and Bruce Edgar. The party comprised 12 of the World Cup squad, bolstered by the inclusion of star pace bowler Richard Hadlee, who had been unavailable for the World Cup, and left- arm spinner Evan Gray as a like-for-like replacement for Stephen Boock. ‘Third Test Match, December 26-30, 1987’ New Zealand entered the match needing a win to square the series, having lost at Brisbane by nine wickets and drawn at Adelaide. Both sides made two changes to their line-ups from Adelaide, the visitors substituting Ewen Chatfield and Philip Horne for Evan Gray and Martin Snedden, while Australia were unable to consider injured pacemen Bruce Reid and Merv Hughes, replacing them with Test debutant Tony Dodemaide and Mike Whitney, whose only two Test appearances had been in England six years earlier.

The 1980/81 team Unlike the inaugural Test tour in 1973/74, all leading New Zealand players, with the notable exception of Glenn Turner, were available and the selectors chose a squad of proven international players rather than a more even blend of experience and youthful promise. Lance Cairns, Jeremy Coney, Richard Hadlee and John Parker had toured Australia seven years earlier, while nine other members of the party had appeared in a total of 125 Tests between them. Only John Bracewell, Ian Smith and Martin Snedden could be seen as possible investments for the future. Bracewell’s younger brother, Brendon, who was playing club cricket in Perth at the time, was added to the squad immediately before the first Test as a replacement for left-arm paceman Gary Troup, who had not recovered from a side injury sustained early in the tour.
