KERRY PHIPPEN_

STROUD BASED ARTIST KERRY PHIPPEN WAS BORN AND RAISED IN PERTHSHIRE, BUT HAS LIVED IN THE STROUD AREA SINCE 1999. HER INSPIRATION COMES FROM A LIFELONG LOVE OF ANIMALS IN PARTICULAR DEER, HORSES, FOXES AND BIRDS OF PREY; AS WELL AS HER EARLY YEARS INFLUENCE OF FAIRY TALES AND THEIR ANIMAL SYMBOLISM.

Her drawings and paintings veer from large scale intricate and detailed acrylic paintings on domestic wallpapers to more delicate and gentle ink paintings on handmade papers. Kerry has exhibited her work and received several awards in many prestigious venues in the UK including The Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy, RWA and the Jerwood Drawing Space. She also has an ink drawing Red Swan and Ugly Duckling ‘Ghoul School’ in the permanent collection of The British Museum. In 2012, Kerry won the Finest Drawing at the National Open Art Prize and in 2013 was awarded Best Watercolour at the RWA in Bristol.
