Final Thesis Phil Isherwood
CORE Metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk Provided by University of Bolton Institutional Repository (UBIR) Numinous Connections: Poetry in the Hospice Philip Isherwood A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements of the University of Bolton for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy January 2015 Numinous Connections - Poetry in the Hospice - Philip Isherwood A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements of the University of Bolton for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Philip Isherwood Numinous Connections: Poetry in the Hospice Abstract This thesis offers a distinctive approach to writing poetry which has been developed within the context of the author’s/researcher’s observations of, and participation in, end of life care. It will be argued that poetry can have a unique role in supporting patients within a hospice setting. It emerges that there may be a further role of the poem as ‘memorial art’. The practical base to the research has been writing poetry based on conversations with, and the creative artwork of, hospice patients throughout a period of over three years. These working methods have enabled the author to produce a substantial collection of poetry, presented at the start of the thesis, as the prime evidence of the value of the approach. In this research context the ‘numinous’ is interpreted from its extended definition as relating to transcendence, wonder and otherness. Particular components of the writing practice have formed a ‘numinous poetics’. The numinous as a focus in this research has emerged through careful and scholarly reading and reflection as part of the author’s response to the perceived qualities and value of the poems as they were written. -

OUTTURN March 2018 Bottling List Web Exclusive
OUTTURN March 2018 Bottling List Web Exclusive DEFROSTING BOTTLES AVAILABLE IN WEBSHOP 5. MARCH - KL 14.00 - WWW.SMWS.DK SWEET, FRUITY & MELLOW CASK No. G4.13 MARVELLOUS MULTIFACETED We found an extremely multifaceted dram on the nose neat. It started with cinnamon and brown sugar poached pears over a bunch of flower on a varnished grand piano, to coffee and walnut cake and finishing in a glass of Tokaji wine. On the palate a lovely viscosity with flavours of rum and raisin ice-cream, melted butter on a hot cross bun, Battenberg cake and a nutty banana split in warm chocolate sauce. With a drop of water aromas of gentle wood spice as well as olive oil French toast appeared, whilst on the palate now brown butter shortbread cookies. 35 YEARS 15-February-1982 LOWLAND EX-BOURBON REFILL HOGSHEAD DK 10 BOTTLES 52,1% 1.275,- SPICY & SWEET CASK No. 2.104 DECLARATIONS OF THE HEART The nose gave us apples, pears and fresh, open grasslands, varnished pine and basketry and then vanilla candles and parchment – reminiscent of nights spent writing declarations of the heart; composing poetic passion by proxy. The palate had delicious pear Belle Hélène (pear, ice-cream and chocolate) and juicy pineapple, with a Victory V, hot-cross bun and ginger snap spice that warmed the cockles of that heart. The reduced nose – apple crumble with brown sugar, cinnamon and hazelnuts; cinema popcorn and candied angelica. The palate now had chocolate brazils, pistachio ice-cream and Chantilly cream on fruit – balancing rewarding sweetness with stimulating, mouth-enlivening heat. -

We've been very busy since the Summer catalogue and there is plenty to be excited about. You can find out all about the events we've been attending on the MWF news page. The biggest piece of the news is that we are discontinuing a large number of lines to make way for new ones and to make the process of online ordering easier. By discontinuing certain lines and products, it gives us the space to bring in new products that you and your customers will love. While this may seem like a large change, we would like to stress that the changes that are taking place are entirely to make Michaels Wholefoods even better and are nothing to worry about. If you've got any questions or general inquiries then get in touch - [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you. OUTTURN July 2018 Bottling List
OUTTURN July 2018 Bottling List BOTTLES AVAILABLE IN WEBSHOP 25. På snarligt gensyn Thomas Korsgaard YOUNG & SPRITELY CASK No. -
