Few Valley residents will forget the good times they had at the annual Halloween haunted-house, or the hundreds of thousands of dollars it raised for local charities. Greig was named Outstanding Jaycee for the state of California and one of the 10 best Jaycees in the United States. Before Greig was elected, Mayor James K. Hahn recognized his unique experience by appointing him to the City's Landfill Oversight Committee, where he chaired the Future Alternatives Technology subcommittee.

MITCHELL ENGLANDER Los Angeles City Councilmember, 12th District President Pro Tempore March 8, 2011 – Present, Second Term Mitchell Englander was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. He attended valley public schools and has dedicated his life to public service and to making the Valley a safer and better place to live, work, and raise a family. Councilmember Mitchell Englander was elected to serve as Los Angeles City Councilmember for the Twelfth District on March 8, 2011, to serve the communities of Granada Hills, Northridge, Porter Ranch, Chatsworth, North Hills, Reseda, Sherwood Forest and West Hills. He was elected in a crowded field and won in the Primary Election with nearly 60% of the vote. In July 2013, he was unanimously voted by his peers to serve as President Pro Tempore of the City Council. He serves as Chair of the Public Safety Committee, Vice-Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, and is a member of the Planning and Land Use Management Committee and the Executive Employee Relations Committee. He was re-elected in 2015 with 100% of the vote. Mitch has been at the forefront of protecting our neighborhoods and the quality of life in the Northwest San Fernando Valley. Before he was elected to the City Council, he served as the Chief of Staff to Los Angeles City Councilman Greig Smith from 2003 to 2011. Together, they led the fight to stop the massive Las Lomas development – the largest proposed single development in the history of the City. He told me that the recent expansions of the Enterprise Zone mean that his manufacturing facilities in the San Fernando Valley are now in the E.Z. Gerald, who has been in business in LA for 17 years, is committed to doing his manufacturing here in the U.S.A. The benefits and incentives that come with being in an Enterprise Zone will make it easier for him to compete with companies that would outsource and do their manufacturing overseas. ADG is now competing for new business with a European investor, and if successful, they can expand with a new line of manufacturing and hire up to 1,000 people in LA over the next five years. Every single one of those jobs represents a family in our community that is staying healthy, happy and prosperous. That is what our community needs. The Enterprise Zone is a tool that gives our companies a better chance to compete so that they can create those jobs. That effort has already started paying off, as we got two expansions in one year of the State Enterprise Zone, adding more E.Z. acreage in the San Fernando Valley including ADG's manufacturing facilities in Chatsworth. That achievement is a beacon of hope that we must preserve during these hard times.
