Benutzungsort : Freiburg Zuständiges Referat : MA 5 Bestandsgeschichte Die Akten stammen aus Rückführungen aus den USA und Großbritannien an die Dokumentenzentrale des Militärgeschichtlichen Forschungsamtes. Von dort wurden die Akten 1968 an das Bundesarchiv, Abteilung Militärarchiv abgegeben. Inhaltliche Charakterisierung: Der Bestand umfasst hauptsächlich Arbeits- und Erprobungsberichte sowie Schriftwechsel des Kommandos der Erprobungsstellen und der Erprobungsstellen selbst mit vorgesetzten Dienststellen und verschiedenen Firmen. Die meisten Erprobungsberichte entfallen auf die beiden E-Stellen Rechlin und Travemünde. Vom Fliegerforstschutzverband sind rund 60 Aktenbände mit Bestäubungs- und Sprühberichten einschließlich der dazugehörigen Karten überliefert. Von den übrigen E-Stellen sind nur geringfügige Aktensplitter erhalten. Hervorzuheben sind die sieben Aktenbände des Kommandos der E-Stellen, die sich mit Organisationsangelegenheiten der E-Stellen und E-Kommandos befassen. August 2019 Bestandsbeschreibung BUNDESARCHIV www.bundesarchiv.de Umfang, Aufbewahrungs- : 592 einheiten Bearbeiter/in : MA 5 Stand (Jahr) : 2016 Information zur Provenienz Name : Erprobungsstellen der Luftwaffe Existenzzeit : 1933 - 1945 Institutionsgeschichte : KOMMANDO DER ERPROBUNGSSTELLEN Nach den Bestimmungen des Versailler Vertrags von 1919 war dem Deutschen Reich die Entwicklung und der Bau von Flugzeugen für militärische Zwecke verboten. Dennoch wurden vom Reichswehrministerium (RWM) bereits ab 1920 Referate eingerichtet, die die Aufgabe hatten, Vorarbeiten für die Schaffung von Entwicklungs- und Erprobungsstellen einer Luftwaffe zu leisten. So wurden im Truppenamt (TA) ein Referat "Luftschutz" TA (L) und in der Inspektion für Waffen und Gerät (IWG) ein fliegertechnisches Referat gebildet. Nach Zusammenlegung der IWG mit dem Waffenamt (Wa.A) des RWM Anfang 1927 wurde das fliegertechnische Referat zum Referat 6 F der Gruppe Prüfwesen (Wa.Prw. 6 F). Ihm waren sowohl die als zivile Ingenieurbüros getarnten Entwicklungsreferate als auch die Erprobungsgruppen in Johannisthal und Rechlin unterstellt. Die Erprobung fiel somit in die Zuständigkeit des Prüfwesens im Waffenamt. Ende November 1928 wurde auch der Amtsbereich Beschaffungswesen von der Gruppe Wa.L.Prw. übernommen. Um den wachsenden Anforderungen besser entsprechen zu können, wurde Ende Juli 1929 die Luftfahrtgruppe im Waffenamt (Wa.L) in drei Gruppen "Entwicklung Flugzeuge (Wa.L. I)", "Entwicklung Ausrüstung" (Wa.L. II) und "Erprobung" (Wa.L. III) gegliedert. Daneben bestanden noch eine Gruppe "Beschaffung" und eine Gruppe "Wehrwirtschaft und Rüstung". Auf Befehl des Reichswehrministers Blomberg wurde am 8. Februar 1933 das Luftschutz-Amt (LA) gebildet, das nun auch für die Entwicklung sowie Erprobung und Beschaffung von Flugzeugen, Flugzeugtriebwerken und Fliegersondergerät verantwortlich sein sollte. Ihm wurde die Luftfahrtgruppe im Waffenamt, jetzt als Wa.Prw. 8 bezeichnet, als Abteilung L 2 zugeordnet. Nach Überführung des Luftschutzamtes in das neu geschaffenen Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) im Mai wurde die Abteilung Fliegertechnik zunächst als Technische Abteilung (B II) dem Allgemeinen Amt (LB) des RLM unterstellt, dann aber im Zuge der Ausdruck für : Benutzernr. : Thema : WK2 Luftwaffe Personal, Anlagen, Gerät 3/14 Druckdatum : Mittwoch, 28. Oktober 1933 zum Technischen Amt (LC) erhoben und wie dieses dem Staatssekretär der Luftfahrt, Generaloberst Milch, unmittelbar unterstellt. Es gliederte sich in die Abteilungen LC I (Forschung), LC II (Prüfwesen) und LC III (Beschaffung). Oberst Wimmer blieb als Chef des Technischen Amtes auch weiterhin für die Fliegertechnik verantwortlich, während Hauptmann Freiherr von Richthofen, der ab Juni 1934 die Abteilung LC II leitete, fachlich den Erprobungsstellen (E- Stellen) vorgesetzt war. Bis zur Enttarnung der Luftwaffe im März 1935 wurde die Erprobung von den als zivil getarnten "Erprobungsstellen des Reichsverbandes der Deutschen Luftfahrtindustrie" durchgeführt. Das bereits 1934 geschaffene "Kommando der Fliegererprobungsstellen", mit Sitz in Rechlin, trat nun als zentrale Erprobungsinstanz in Erscheinung. An der Spitze des Kommandos stand der Kommandeur der Erprobungsstellen (K.d.E), der gleichzeitig Leiter der E-Stelle Rechlin und Vorgesetzter des Chefs der E-Stelle Travemünde war. Ihm vorgesetzt war der Abteilungsleiter LC II (Prüfwesen). Im Dezember 1936 wurden die E-Stellen Rechlin und Travemünde sowie Tarnewitz 1937 dem neuen Chef des Technischen Amtes, Oberst Udet, direkt unterstellt und mit der Durchführung der Entwicklung und technischen Erprobung des Luftwaffen- Geräts beauftragt. Im Zuge einer Neugliederung des gesamten RLM wurde das Technische Amt unmittelbar Göring unterstellt. Daraufhin änderte Udet im Mai 1938 erneut die Organisationsstruktur des Technischen Amtes und löste die Dienststelle Kommandeur der Erprobungsstellen auf. Die E-Stellen erhielten nun selbständige Kommandanturen, die fachlich dem Chef des Technischen Amtes unterstanden. Am 1. Februar 1939 wurden Technisches Amt, Nachschubamt und die Amtsgruppe "Industrie und Wirtschaft" zur neuen Dienststelle Generalluftzeugmeister (GL) zusammengefasst und ein weiteres Mal dem Staatssekretär der Luftfahrt unterstellt.

Stankey I N T R O D U C T I O N This work is the sum total of many years of collecting data concerning the careers of some of the officers of the Luftwaffe during the Third Reich period. In a change in policy, we now include all commissioned officers known to have served in the Luftwaffe during the Third Reich period. Thus the 73,500 officers represented here are only a fraction of the approximately 120,000 officers and senior officials (Beamte) of officer rank that the Luftwaffe possessed over this period. Nor is the data complete. Due to the near total destruction of official records, we resorted to taking information from the microfilms of the few surviving records and from better quality books. An estimated 75% of the entries were taken from the thousands of wartime Luftwaffe personnel branch’s officer assignment and promotion orders that constitute a microfilmed collection of some 50,000 pages of documentation. Due to the fragmentary nature of our sources, there have been some unavoidable errors for data of those with similar or identical names. While every reasonable effort has been made to distinguish individuals, some comingling of data between them has taken place. Another related issue has been duplicate entries for a given person. These problems are insidious and are corrected as they are found. The level of detail per individual varies from near complete to only a trace reference.

Bridget Veitch The autumn colours been magnificent this year and I am sure you have all enjoyed them as much as I have done. The leaves are now on the ground, and rain can make some areas slippery, so please take care. This is a lovely time of the year. The shops are full of Christmas fare, gifts, and decorations. The school nativity plays are being rehearsed, with costumes being found for the essential supporting cast of sheep, shepherds and angels. The signs are appearing for the Cranbrook Christmas Fair, which is on Friday and Saturday December 9 and 10. Do come and enjoy it. Coral Kirkaldie has been our Parish Clerk for 14 years, and has been a huge support to all the Parish Chairmen and councillors, not to mention the community, for all of those years.

The monument features many scenes relating to military and civilian life during the Battle of Britain. The centre piece, Scramble, shows pilots running toward their aircraft after receiving orders to intercept an incoming air attack. ZONE 1 Defeat in France May – June 1940 Britain and France declared war on Germany on 3 September 1939, two days after the country invaded Poland. Several months later, on 10 May 1940, Germany attacked Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands and France in a rapid ‘Blitzkrieg’ offensive. During a brief, but costly campaign, Britain deployed multiple Royal Air Force (RAF) squadrons to France. The aircraft were sent to support the British Expeditionary Force fighting on the ground and to counter Germany’s powerful air force, the Luftwaffe. Within 6 weeks, France had fallen. The remaining British, French and other Allied troops retreated to the coast, where over half a million were evacuated. The majority departed from the port of Dunkirk. Anyway here goes with the latest… 1. FOR RELEASE IN JUNE… A .“Lawrence of Arabia” One of my personal all-time favourite movies is David Lean’s epic “Lawrence of Arabia” starring Peter O’Toole, Omar Sharif, Alec Guinness and Jack Hawkins. Since I first saw it almost 50 years ago I’ve been fascinated and enthralled by the colour and spectacle of the movie and the tale it told. A couple of years ago, not long after K&C started work on our Australian Light Horse range, I decided that we should try and extend our interest in the First World War in the Middle East to include “Lawrence” and the Arab Revolt. Well, here are the first two pieces… LOA001 “Lieut. T.E. Lawrence” In the movie, when Lawrence journeys into the desert for the first time he is still dressed in regular British Army tropical uniform. He has however exchanged his service cap for the much more sensible Arab headdress. Here he is mounted on a superbly detailed and colourful camel. LOA002 “Sherif Ali” Played in the film by Omar Sharif Lawrence encounters the dramatic black-clad figure of Sherif Ali ibn el Kharish, one of Prince Feisal’s most trusted lieutenants. Sherif Ali sits atop his equally detailed camel, a Lee Enfield rifle resting across his lap.
