    Sporcularımızın Yaz Olimpiyatları Öyküsü Modern Olimpiyat Oyunları’nın kurucusu Fransız Pierre de Coubertin, 1800’lü yılların sonrasında sosyal ve siyasal anlamda çöküntü yaşayan ülkesinin kurtuluşunu, Fransız gencinin ahlakını güçlendirecek, inançlarını sağlamlaştıracak, karakterli, bedenen güçlü ve cesur bir eğitim sisteminde gördü. Türk ulusunun kurtarıcısı Büyük Atatürk’ün ölümünde Fransızların ünlü günlük spor gazetesi L’Auto’da yayınlanan makalede, Atatürk’ün spora verdiği önem şöyle anlatılıyordu: “Dünyada ilk kez beden eğitimini zorunlu kılan devlet adamı o oldu. Yalnızca kağıt üzerinde, nutuklarda değil, uygulayarak yerine getirdi. Stadyumlar ve çeşitli spor merkezleri kurdurdu. Halk evlerinin spor kollarını şahsen denetledi. Ulusun geleceğine yön verdiği günden itibaren Türkiye’de spor gittikçe artan bir önem ve değer kazandı.” Genç Türkiye Cumhuriyeti, Uluslararası Olimpiyat Komitesi’nce tarihinde ilk kez Paris 1924 Olimpiyat Oyunları’na resmen davet edildiğinde, Türkiye İdman Cemiyetleri İttifakı ile Türkiye Milli Olimpiyat Komitesi yöneticileri hükümetten yardım isteme kararı almışlar ve bunun için bir heyeti Ankara’ya göndermişlerdi. 1923 Ağustos’unda Ankara’ya gelen İdman Cemiyetleri İttifakı Başkanı Ali Sami Yen, önce Milli Eğitim Bakanı İsmail Sefa Özler’i daha sonra da Başbakan İsmet İnönü’yü ziyaret ederek gerek İdman Cemiyetleri İttifakı Örgütü’nün ülkedeki gelişimi ve gerekse Türkiye’nin Paris 1924 Olimpiyatı’na katılımı için hazırlanan bir raporu sundu. 18 Ağustos 1923 tarihli hükümet programında şu cümleler yer alıyordu: “Milli Eğitimin görevlerinden birincisi, çocukların eğitimi ve öğretimi; ikincisi, halkın eğitimi ve öğretimi; üçüncüsü, milli yıldızların yetiştirilmesi için gerekli araç-gereçlerin belirlenmesi ve sağlanmasıdır.” Bu arada TMOK Genel Sekreteri ve IOC Türkiye Temsilcisi Selim Sırrı Bey (Tarcan), hükümet programına bir yıl süreli beden eğitimi okulunu koydurma başarısını göstermişti.

For sports organization of young Republic of Turkey has been new, Turkish sportsmen couldn’t show any success in these Olympic Games. They gained an experience by participating in such international organization. Later on, Turkey participated in 1928 Amsterdam, 1936 Berlin, 1948 London, 1952 Helsinki, 1956 Melbourne, 1960 Rome and 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games [1]. Turkey participated in 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games with group of 49 people, 29 of which were sportsmen in such branches as athletics, boxing, wrestling and shooting [2]. Due to high altitude of the Mexico in addition to problems came up between the President of Turkish Wrestling Federation of that period and Turkish national wrestlers before 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games, Turkey contented itself with championship of Mahmut Atalay and Ahmet Ayık in freestyle wrestling and with fourth place of İsmail Akçay in athletics marathon branch. Sporcunun aerobik ve anaerobik düzeyde enerjiyi kullanma kapasitesi, kas kuvveti, dayanıklılığı, sinir kas fonksiyonu, kişinin motivasyonu ve taktiklerin oluşturduğu psikolojik faktörler sporda devamlılığın oluşabilmesi için sporcuya kazandırılması gerektiği belirtilmektedir. Dr. Mehmet Yıldız Gazi Üniversitesi Spor Bilimleri Fakültesi Prof. Dr. Özbay Güven Gazi Üniversitesi Spor Bilimleri Fakültesi Gürkan Şanlı Selçuk Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü Özet Bu çalışmanın amacı, 1966 Toledo Dünya Güreş Şampiyonasında Türk Güreş Millî Takımlarının elde ettikleri sonuçları değerlendirmektir. Bu amaçla nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden döküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bulgulara ulaşmak amacıyla 1966 Toledo Dünya Güreş Şampiyonası’na yönelik detaylı literatür taraması yapılmış ve elde edilen veriler üzerinden içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre Türk serbest güreş millî takımı 1957 yılında İstanbul’da düzenlenen Dünya Serbest Güreş Şampiyonasi’ndan dokuz yıl sonra tekrar takım halinde dünya şampiyonu olurken, tek altın madalyayı 78 kg’da mücadele eden Mahmut Atalay kazanmıştır. Türk serbest güreş milli takımı sporcuları altı sıklette kürsüye çıkmayı başarmışlar ve dönemin en güçlü takımlarından olan Rus güreş takımını geride bırakarak önemli bir başarıya imza atmışlardır. Grekoromen stilde ise Türk grekoromen güreş millî takımı beşinci olurken bireysel olarak en iyi dereceyi 87 kg’da Tevfik Kış’ın ikincilği oluşturmuştur. Özellikle Serbest güreşte yakalanan bu başarı grafiği kendisini 1967 yılında İstanbul’da düzenlenen Avrupa Serbest Güreş Şampiyonası ve 1968 Mexico City Olimpiyat Oyunları’nda da göstermiştir.
