HEARING SESSION At this time, the Board of Education welcomes public comment. Members of the audience have an opportunity to speak to any item on the Agenda or regarding subjects or concerns that do not appear on the Agenda. The chair reserves the right to limit speaking time to three minutes. Government Code Section 54954.2 and Education Code Section 35145.5 prohibits the Board of Education from discussing or acting upon matters not on the Agenda; therefore, Board members may (1) acknowledge receipt of the information; or (2) refer the matter to staff with no direction as to action or priority. Call to Order and Welcome: 7:00 p.m. – Carolyn M. Wilson, President At approximately 9:30 p.m., the Board of Education will determine which of the remaining agenda items can be considered and acted upon prior to 10:00 p.m., and may continue all other items on which additional time is required until a future meeting. Recognize The National Yes I Can Award Recipient: The Board of Education will recognize and congratulate Joe Muñoz from La Sierra High School for being awarded The National Yes I Can Award through the Council for Exceptional Children. b. Recognition of Red Ribbon Week Contest Winners: The Board of Education will recognize students, staff and schools that were selected in the Red Ribbon Week poster contest. c. Employee of the Year Recognitions: The Alvord Unified School District will recognize and congratulate the following individuals for being chosen as Employee of the Year for 2016! Awards will be presented by Virginia Eves.
