The design of the building was considered unappealing and that different materials should be incorporated.

The reasons are as follows: a) the roof height/lack of headroom of the mezzanine room and its access by ladder would not appear to be adequate for living accommodation; b) Roof lights face intrusively into the AONB and should deploy either light diffusing technology or be relocated; c) the hedgerow deemed to hide the building is already sparse in places and an ineffective disguise; d) raising of the flue by some 1.5m to reach ridge level would make it very obvious and stark; e) the plans do not adequately show the additional parking provision or how more vehicles would navigate the very narrow access from the highway. 2021/0329 Change of use of garage to holiday let and demolition of secondary FUL garage to facilitate parking. Currently Anna Land at 357893 149950 Roemead Road, Green Ore subject to Judicial Clark 10/07/19 RECOMMENDED: REFUSAL Review Comments: Existing fast-flow traffic; increase in heavy duty traffic; proximity to junction; recorded accidents at location; fragile road infrastructure; risk of contamination of water course; impact on AONB; building is overbearing and inappropriate for this location; development should not be on a greenfield site such as this site; does not comply with the Local Plan CP1 and CP4; consultation with adjoining Parish has been inadequate. The Parish Council is aware that written objections which they have received, have also been submitted to Mendip District Council. The Parish Council request that this application is considered by Mendip District Council’s Planning Board.
