he first quarter of 2012 is set to be very busy for post-grunge and alternative metalband, TSeether. Not only did they release their new single ‘Country Song’ in February, but their fifth album Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray is out this month. The South African band is also touring the UK in March. Released in the US last May, their new album has been long-awaited on our shores. The lead single, ‘Country Song,’ was number one on Active Rock Radio for a staggering eleven weeks, the most played song on the station that year, beating the Foo Fighters, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Staind. Furthermore, the single has been named as the number one Active Rock Song of the Year in Canada, and earned the title of number one Heritage Rock Artist of 2011 from Billboard. These achievements combined with the group’s highest album charting of number two with Holding Onto String, on the Billboard chart, means that Seether has a lot to be proud of. ‘Country Song’ itself is a constant, steady drumbeat of twangy, country guitar, bitter yet witty lyrics, gruff and gritty vocals from Shaun Morgan, and a heawvy but catchy chorus with anthem-worthy chants and cheers. As an introductory song to the rest of the album, ‘Country Song,’ is likely to leave many rock fans desperate for more.
