Murrills [email protected] Balcombe Cricket Club Selection Policy The selection committee is formed of the Captains and Vice Captains for the three league sides, the Sunday side. Their intention is to meet at the Cricket Club by 7.30pm on Wednesday of each week to select and publish 4 teams for the following weekend, based upon the selection policy. The over-riding intent is that the process results in choosing eligible, competitive, fair sides that reflect the nature and spirit of the Club and the selection policy. At the heart of this policy is the assumption that every player aspires to play at the highest standard that his or her ability allows Where players have moved up or down in any given week, the Captain or Vice Captain of the senior team involved undertakes to speak to the player before the team is published on line, in order to explain the reason for the move. A Chairman of Selectors to be appointed to mediate in any Selection items of contention. However, the expectation is that the Captains will work together and collectively be able to agree on 3 sides each week. Selection criteria. 1. Players are to be eligible under the league and BCC membership rules. 2. To select the strongest sides available based upon ability, form, application, while balancing the side between batters, bowlers, wicket keeper and fielding ability. Teams to be filled top down. First XI will be prioritised to always have 11 players. The 2nds and 3rds will divide the remainder to attain equal numbers of players per team with the remaining player to be allocated to the 2nds if required. If less than 19 players (10 & 9) are available then the 3rd team fixture will be cancelled and the 2nds to progress with 11. 3. We are aware that certain players might want to play in certain sides but sometimes this in unavoidable with us being a village club and players are expected to play for the side they are picked for. We will do our best to address this in future games and try and play players where they would most like to play. 4. Consistency of availability, attitude and “clubmanship” can be taken into account. 5. Habitual dropouts and inconsistent players will find their places less protected than players who put more into the Club. 6. The selection committee are also to remain aware of the need to develop certain players, give new members a fair chance and to provide adequate cricket opportunities for all members. 7. Once the teams have been selected for each week, each team is to select names for the reserved occupations of x2 opening batsmen, x2 opening bowlers and a ‘keeper. These players are then not open for moving that week unless in extreme circumstance. 8. The selection committee reserves the right to vary the above if the circumstances dictate Player protocol. 1. Players are expected to be as clear as possible about their availability and to communicate this to a member of the selection committee no later than 6pm each Wednesday. Once players are notified of their selection a response to the captain is required ASAP. 2. Dropping out is to be avoided in all cases except genuine emergency/crisis. 3. Players are asked to arrive in good time for matches or travel to matches, to be fully equipped and to make time for proper practise prior to the commencement of each game. 4. Every player is expected to assist with umpiring, scoring, setting up and clearing away the equipment, pavilion and other facilities including taking a turn behind the bar and making teas and drinks. Secretary: BALCOMBE CRICKET CLUB Treasurer: Mr. N. Draude www.balcombecc.net Mr. A. Ruzicka 23 Tudor Close 104 Findon Road Maidenbower President: Crawley Crawley, West Sussex Mr. J.S. Greenwood West Sussex RH10 7WX Chairman: RH11 0BQ [email protected] Mr. T. Murrills [email protected] 5. BCC expect the very highest standard of cricket etiquette. There is a fine line between genuine tough and gritty competitiveness [which we encourage], and petulant, unsporting or "ungentlemanly" conduct – this line must not be crossed. Accountability. The process of selection is both complicated and potentially sensitive. The final teams are inevitably a compromise and often the subject of a vote and a split decision. The selection committee ask that the playing membership understand these complexities but if a genuine grievance should develop, this should be reported to a member of the main BCC committee for discussion prior to those meetings that are scheduled for the first Monday of every month. Murrills [email protected] Captains and Vice Captains Duties The roles of captains and vice captains is pivotal to the way the club is run and you are the main people who our playing members have most communication with. The roles of the captains and vice-captains include: - Getting to home matches early to help set up or delegate to another member of his team. - Ensure there is a key holder available if you are unavailable or plan to go home before everyone else. - Collect of Match Fee’s and Subscriptions on match days – which need to be given or paid to the treasurer along with a team sheet within 4 days. This is vital so the Treasurer can keep on top of who has paid their subscriptions and any debt outstanding. - Entering of all scorecards onto play cricket. League scorecards need to be entered before 10am the following morning of the match. Friendly fixtures should be entered onto play cricket within 7 days. This keeps records for the club which is great to look back on over time. - Gather availability of players prior to selection which is held on Monday evenings at 6pm. - Attend selection meetings or make other captains aware of availability in your absence. - Contact any players who have been dropped from your team and explain the reasons. - Contact all players who have been selected for your team by Thursday 10am and feedback any problems to the other captains. Provide regular updates to other captains and once final team selection has been completed let the treasurer know the teams so he can provide an up to date list of debts/those that owe subscriptions per game. .

  • West Sussex County Council’S Response to the LGBCE’S Consultation on Electoral Divisions – Approved by the Governance Committee on 25 January 2016
West Sussex County Council’s response to the LGBCE’s consultation on electoral divisions – Approved by the Governance Committee on 25 January 2016 Adur West Sussex County Council supports the LGBCE’s proposals. Arun West Sussex County Council supports the LGBCE’s proposals with one recommendation: the proposed ‘Arundel and Wick’ division should be renamed ‘Arundel and Courtwick’ as this better reflects the community actually in the division. Much of the community of Wick would now be in Littlehampton Town division. Courtwick is going through significant housing development at present, so the title ‘Arundel and Courtwick’ would be more appropriate. Chichester West Sussex County Council’s supports LGBCE’s proposals in general, but subject to these recommendations: The ‘Fernhurst’ division should be renamed ‘Rother Valley’ to better reflect the parishes covered within the division. Fernhurst is one of 13 parishes in the division and is not particularly bigger than several other parishes. The name ‘Rother Valley’ is well-known in the area and would better describe the wide geographical spread of the area. The boundary line between Chichester North and Chichester East should be amended so that the land West of Palmers Field Avenue be included in Chichester North division. This land is part of the ‘lower Graylingwell site’ which has outline planning permission and was subject to a government announcement recently that makes it likely to be completed by 2019. The overall site includes 160 homes and this section west of Palmers Field Avenue will be a natural part of that site, facing inward rather than having any direct access to Palmers Field Avenue.
