Man doesn’t watch Doctor Who, fans shocked.

As reported in The Wall of Lies 155 (July 2015), then-Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull responded to us within his brief -- “I’ve never watched Doctor Who.”

Now in some other less relevant portfolio, Mr Turncoat has expanded on his apathy to The Show, “I haven't been a Doctor Who aficionado and haven't been able to see much of the new series given pressures of work.”

Q. How did you come to write a Doctor Who novel?

A. My first submission, Cascade, was rejected due to the presence of the . But Virgin then asked me to sub- mit another one. This was a New Adventure called The Crystal Bucephalus. Six months and three outlines later, it was accepted, having become a Missing Adventure and los- ing a whole lot of plot (which it needed to). Although I was in contact with Virgin because of Shelf-Life, this didn’t give me an advantage. Virgin read all proposals and judge them on their merit.

Q. Was the finished book different to your original idea?

A. The original Crystal Bucephalus was to do with political manipulation. The idea was that the Crystal Bucephalus itself was a galactic parliament was far more important because a race of telepathic, tiger striped dolphins called the Amenththys were using it to manipulate the Union. The TArDIS still blew up at the end though ... The religious aspect – very important to the finished version - was barely touched upon. Indeed the lazarus intent was just a throw- away line, And there was a lot of gratuitous sex ...

Q. Why did you choose to set The Crystal Bucephalus between The King’s Demons and The Five Doctors? write The Messiah Response, which is a sequel to The Crystal Bucephalus. A. I prefer writing my own book to reviewing, but only by a roughshod over what has gone before. If it was up to me, whisker. More freedom, more fun … but more discipline. I’d start with an eighth Doctor, and wouldn’t start tampering with the mythos at all. But I’d have lots of Daleks! Q. Are you writing any more Doctor Who books? Q. Would you consider submitting a script for the new series if it goes ahead? A. My next book, Millennial Rites, is a Missing Adventure A. I’ve never written a script before.
