  • 2018-19 Welcome to Llanidloes High School
2018-19 Welcome to Llanidloes High School I am delighted to welcome you to Llanidloes High school a caring school where pupils enjoy a happy and rewarding experience. I am proud and privileged to be the Head teacher and work in partnership with enthusiastic pupils, committed staff and supportive governors. The school environment is positive, supportive and purposeful and designed with one thing in mind: that our pupils fulfil their potential. We are an 11-18 co-educational community comprehensive school and take great pride in the care that we offer our pupils and the opportunities that are available for them to develop their sporting, cultural, social and lifelong learning skills. Teaching and Learning is a priority in the school and this is reflected in the school motto GOFAL - ‘Giving Opportunities For All To Learn’ and is the Welsh word for CARE. We have committed, hard working and dedicated staff who regularly go above and beyond to ensure that our pupils are safe and enjoy their learning. Our most recent Estyn inspection (April 2016) judged the schools current performance to be ‘Good’ with prospects for improvement also ‘Good’. It recognised that ‘the school has effective support systems that promote and encourage pupils’ wellbeing, attendance and academic progress’. The school has seen a gradual improvement in nearly all key indicators over the last four years and is on a continuous journey of school improvement. Our aim is ‘Excellence’ in all areas and staff are excited at the opportunities that are planned for the future – for example being a Lead Creative School.

In its role as 'Guardian of the Water Environment', the NRA is committed to preparing a sound plan for the future management of the region's river catchments. This Consultation Report is the first stage in the catchment management planning process for the upper reaches of the River Severn. It provides a framework for consultation and also a means of seeking commitment from those involved to realise the full environmental potential of the Catchment. We look forward to receiving comments and contributions from interested organisations and individuals. These will enable a Final Plan to be produced, balancing the conflicting demands placed upon the natural water environment. Dr J H Kalicki Area Manager Upper Severn Area THE NRA's VISION FOR THE CATCHMENT The catchment of the upper reaches of the River Severn is predominantly rural in character, and is an area known for its attractive upland landscape and great natural beauty.

  • Community No
FINAL PROPOSALS Community No. M45 - TREFEGLWYS Introduction 1. The community of Trefeglwys in western Montgomeryshire falls into two distinct parts. The eastern and main part of the community lies in the valley of the river Trannon - a tributary of the river Severn - which at Trefeglwys, with its main tributary the afon Cerist, forms a broad, highly farmed vale. To the west, beyond Llawryglyn and the watershed at Y Gamallt and Waen y Gittin, lies the small settlement of Staylittle / Penfforddlas at the centre of one of the most remote areas in Montgomeryshire. This area is heavily forested and intersected by the streams that feed the Clywedog Reservoir. The two halves of this community are connected only by narrow, unclassified county roads with steep gradients. The main settlement in this community is the key settlement of Trefeglwys, which benefits from a good range of community services and facilities and the capacity to accommodate additional development. A new primary school and community centre have recently been built in the village. Llawryglyn has been defined as a small village with limited community services and facilities. The remainder of the population lives in scattered farms and dwellings and in the rural settlements of Llwynygog and Staylittle. 2. The community has a population of 868, an electorate of 699 (2005) and a council of 10 members. The community is warded: Llawryglyn with 250 electors and four councillors; Trefeglwys with 449 and six. The precept required for 2005 is £2,500, representing a Council Tax Band D equivalent of £6.17. 3. This historical community was only slightly altered by the 1986 Review, with a number of transfers to it of small areas from neighbouring communities.
