The Hulk

Synopsis

Bruce Banner volunteers to be a test subject for a gamma-based super soldier program for General Ross. The experiment fails and the exposure to the gamma radiation turn Banner into the Hulk, who mindlessly kills everyone in his path. Banner becomes a fugitive, turning into the Hulk every time his heart rate exceeds 200 beats per minute, and Ross starts the Hulkbusters to deal with the Hulk and other gamma- powered superhumans. Over the next two years, the Hulk gradually becomes more intelligent over time and fights other gamma-powered supervillains like the Leader and

Abomination. Banner gradually takes notice and sympathizes with him.

One day, as Banner walks around in Las Vegas, he notices Abomination rampaging in Vegas Strip. Abomination notices him and he attacks Banner as he turns into the Hulk. They fight as Hulkbusters come and open fire on them, killing innocent people (including children) in the process. Hulk takes them down as Abomination retreats, and the rest of the people run from the Hulk. Banner encourages Hulk to prove he’s a hero to the world, but Hulk refuses, thinking he’ll never be accepted among humanity. Banner’s cousin, Jennifer Walters, comes to him and offers him to come to

Reno with her after eavesdropping on his talk with Hulk. They make it there and they’re greeted by Jen’s friends, Jane Foster and Betty Ross. They have lunch at a local pizza restaurant when Absorbing Man and the Wrecking Crew cause chaos. Thor (who Jane arranged with Jen and Betty to meet) comes to stop them, but is overwhelmed when the villain activate gamma devices that increase their power. Banner turns into Hulk and goes after the villains, easily taking them down with Thor’s help. Thor’s impressed with Hulk’s tenacity in battle and he and Hulk take a liking to each other. At the Cube,

Leonard Skivorski, Jr. oversees the prisoners when the Leader uses a device to break the prisoners out. Everyone escapes as the Leader tells Abomination and the U-Foes to stay put. Leader plans to contact Absorbing Man and the Wrecking Crew.

Thor tells Hulk Jane, Betty, and Jen arranged for Thor to meet him. He tells him

Jen told Jane about the Hulk’s problems and that Jane told Thor. He encourages him to fight supervillains with him to prove himself a hero to the world. Hulk accepts and they bond with each other fighting supervillains like the Griffin, the Red Ghost and his

Super Apes, and Radioactive Man. At the Cube, the Leader shows Abomination,

Absorbing Man, and the Wrecking Crew a device he’ll use to create a gamma dome people into mind-controlled gamma monsters. As S.H.I.E.L.D. agents bring Leonard out of the Cube, Leader activates the machine and turns everyone into monsters. Thor and Hulk find a news broadcast of the dome and Hulk tells Thor about the Leader. He decides to go there and stop him and they make it to the Cube. They fight through the

Wrecking Crew and the U-Foes and destroy the machine, turning everyone back. Near the Cube, Leader activates another device in Las Vegas and everyone around Hulk and

Thor mutate again. They fight their way out as Jen, Betty, and Jane notice the dome.

They flee in a car and Jen gets injured when their car crashes. Hulk and Thor save Jen and her friends and Hulk turns back to Banner as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents come to save them.

After they take them to the Triskelion, Jen gets treated by medics and is in critical condition. Banner also finds Leonard, who’s still unconscious from the explosion in the Cube and is bigger and more muscular as a result. When the medics leave her room, Banner talks the Hulk into letting him do a blood transfusion to save his cousin. He does so as Leader gives a speech to the world encouraging them accept their transformations. After Banner finishes his transfusion, Jen becomes turns green, grows in size, and gets the Hulk’s powers. Leonard also wakes up with super strength too. Thor encourages Jen and Leonard to help him and Hulk, but Maria Hill, objects to it. Jen and Leonard refuse to listen and go with Hulk and Thor instead. They make it to the Leader’s machine in Las Vegas and they destroy the machine, resulting in everyone turning back to normal. S.H.I.E.L.D. forces confront Hulk and try to take him in, but Thor, Jen, and Leonard defend him. Fury orders his forces to stand down and offers them a chance to join the Avengers Initiative, telling them Hulk’ll be accepted as a hero. Hulk and Thor accept, but Jen decides to be a superhero on her own terms while Leonard decides to work with S.H.I.E.L.D. to deal with gamma- powered villains, taking the name Doc Samson. Jen becomes She-Hulk and has her

first fight with the Griffin, being praised by everyone. Loki, who gave the same device

Leader used to escape the Cube, leads an army of villains from the Cube to break more out of the Vault with another copy of the device.
