    February 6, 2020 Seoul, Korea ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2020 Day One Madison Hubbell/Zachary Donohue (USA), Rika Kihira (JPN) and Kirsten Moore-Towers/Michael Marinaro (CAN) took the lead as the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships opened in Seoul (KOR) Thursday with the Rhythm Dance, Pairs and Ladies Short Programs. 100 skaters from 12 ISU members have been entered for this 21th edition of the Four Continents Championships: 25 Men, 21 Ladies, 11 Pair Skating couples and 16 Ice Dance couples. Seoul has hosted the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championship once before in 2015. Hubbell/Donohue (USA) edge Chock/Bates (USA) in Rhythm Dance in Seoul Madison Hubbell/Zachary Donohue (USA) edged teammates Madison Chock/Evan Bates by just 0.19 points in the Rhythm Dance. Canada’s Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier are not far behind in third place. Skating to “My Heart Belongs to Daddy”, Hubbell/Donohue picked up a level four for the twizzles, the straight line lift and the Finnstep Pattern Dance sequence while the Pattern Dance type step sequence and the midline step sequence were rated a level three. The 2019 World bronze medalists achieved a season’s best with 85.95 points. “It’s been a quick turnaround between Nationals and Four Continents. We really wanted to focus on being precise and confident and we feel like we did that today,” Hubbell said. “So our main focus was the mental aspect, staying focused and really putting out a performance that would be competitive here in this field and we accomplished that

Elena Radionova (RUS) takes Junior Ladies Short Program Elena Radionova led a Russian sweep of the Junior Ladies Short Program, coming in ahead of teammates Serafima Sakhanovich and Evgenia Medvedeva. Radionova’s program to “Anna Karenina” by Two Steps from Hell featured a triple Lutz-triple toeloop combination, a triple loop, double Axel as well as level-four spins and footwork. The defending World Junior Champion scored 66.90 points. “Today I had a good performance, it was very confident and precise and overall I was calm when I went out for the warm up and for the competition. Maybe that’s why everything worked out today”, the 15-year-old commented.     2021 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships January 11-21, 2021 Las Vegas | The Orleans Arena Media Information and Story Ideas The U.S. Figure Skating Championships, held annually since 1914, is the nation’s most prestigious figure skating event. The competition crowns U.S. champions in ladies, men’s, pairs and ice dance at the senior and junior levels. The 2021 U.S. Championships will serve as the final qualifying event prior to selecting and announcing the U.S. World Figure Skating Team that will represent Team USA at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm. The marquee event was relocated from San Jose, California, to Las Vegas late in the fall due to COVID-19 considerations. San Jose meanwhile was awarded the 2023 Toyota U.S. Championships, marking the fourth time that the city will host the event. Competition and practice for the junior and Championship competitions will be held at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The event will take place in a bubble format with no spectators. Estonia hosts the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships for the first time, but has hosted the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in 2010. 163 skaters from 42 ISU members have been entered for the Championships. Following a decision of the ISU congress in summer 2012, no preliminary rounds are skated, but participants need to have achieved a total element minimum score for both Short and Free Program. All skaters compete in the Short Program/Short Dance and the top 24 single skaters, top 16 Pairs and top 20 Ice Dance teams proceed to the Free Skating/Free Dance. Overview of the top contenders Competition in the Men’s event will be tight with the participants of the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final and returning medalists. ISU Junior Grand Prix Final Champion Shoma Uno (JPN) travels with a seasons best of 256.45 points, achieved at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, to Tallinn.
