However, with COVID-19 now in almost all parts of the world, we have to approach sports very differently where we expect athletes, spectators, organisers and support crew working close to each other. The 2021 Safari Rally WRC is no different. Thankfully, the FIA has released clear and concise guidelines on how to do this in Appendix S of the International Sporting Code, COVID-19 Code of Conduct. No one is immune from these rules and certain groups, such as Media, are expected to be ambassadors in pushing through the message to the competitors and public. You will see and experience new measures in place that you may not be used to such as the creation of the High-Density Area (HDA) where only those essential to the safe running for the event are allowed, mandatory PCR and antigen tests for entry into the HDA, lack of mingling of at the event even between groups at HDA. There will be limited access for all personnel in this area including for Media and once in HDA, one will not be allowed to freely come in and out at will. In fact, there is even guidelines on how to behave at your hotel every evening and who with. We need everyone on board making this event a success and bringing back the glory of the Safari Rally. -
