PROJECT COMPLETED

 Analysis of factors affecting productivity of northern flood plains of eastern Uttar Pradesh

The objective of this study was to provide roadmap for improving rural livelihood including health, sanitation and education in three districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The study carried out impact evaluation of ongoing interventions of S.D. TATA trust in the region to understand the efficacy and spread of these interventions. The study further carried out in-depth research, using primary and secondary data, to understand the constraints and opportunity for improving the rural livelihood in these three districts. The outcome of this study identified the required action for improving the rural livelihood as well as prioritization of these action. Under this project I have prepared district Bahraich and Shravsti development plan. 2  Socioeconomic vulnerability of Himachal Pradesh to climate change

The objective of this study was preparing a consolidated report containing, local socioeconomic conditions, climate variability and trends, perceived changes and impacts especially in terms of livelihood of the local people. The study also explored the coping mechanisms and strategies, including a climate change adaptation plan. This study employs a mixed method (both qualitative and quantitative) to explore multiple aspects of the issue covered in the study.

ONGOING PROJECTS

 Energy sector reform (funded by ENERGIA) The study hypothesis is that subsidy reform does indeed have gender impacts, and that by assessing and addressing these impacts, policy makers can improve the chances of reform success and can also use reform as an opportunity for gender empowerment. This study plans to gather the evidence regarding reform across three countries: Bangladesh, India and Nigeria. The research will build empirical evidence as to what works and what does not, with the aim of guiding future reforms so that they create opportunities for gender empowerment, rather than hardship.

 Clean cooking fuel: Issues and challenge (funded by IISD) The Kerosene Free Delhi (KFD) scheme launched in Delhi has set the tone among policymakers and researchers that coverage and benefits of clean cooking fuels can be extended to the poor households. In view of growing enthusiasm among several State Governments to launch similar schemes in their respective State cities, this study will focus on the determinants of switching to clean cooking fuel.
