UNTER WÖLFEN UNTER WÖLFEN UNTER WÖLFEN VS. MATCHDAYMATCHDAY 1. SPIELTAG · 14.08.

2012 U.S. market versus Asian market for VW Group and Skoda Auto expansion opportunities Pavla Kralova Professor: Vaclav Chvalovsky 12/3/2012 University of New York in Prague European Business Administration U.S. market versus Asian market for VW Group and Skoda Auto expansion opportunities Pavla Kralova . Year: 2012-13 Mentor: Vaclav Chvalovsky Acknowledgements I would like to acknowledge the support I have received throughout my studies at UNYP, not least from professors, faculty members, and for the patience and understanding of my family. This was invaluable in helping me progress through the studies. Abstract U.S. market versus Asian market for VW Group and Skoda Auto expansion opportunities This study examines the Volkswagen Group and Skoda Auto‘s expansion opportunities in the U.S. and Asian markets, by first taking a detailed look at the U.S. auto industry and it’s history, and in particular Detroit‘s Big Three, namely the Ford Motor Company, General Motors Corporation (GM) and Chrysler LLC. The study then looks at some of the defining moments and turning points of the U.S. auto industry through the 20th century, the impact of modern technologies, shifts in consumer taste and the current U.S. consumer profile. The following chapters then make a historical overview of the Volkswagen group and the Toyota Motor Corporation, being the current leader in a global car industry, and Volkswagen’s principal competitor. The study then continues with an overview of the auto industry in the BRIC countries, in particular focussing on China , India and Russia, while deliberately omitting Brazil as a separate study of Latin America was not in scope.

/GENEVA MOTOR SHOW 2018 Geneva is the best show to get an overview of the future of the European and broader auto industry as there are always significant launches of new vehicles and concepts of the future. One thing that is clear is that the industry is facing dramatic change. The car world has been shaped by petrol heads, and the idea that the future of the automobile will be dominated by electric, autonomous and shared vehicles is an unavoidable reality that is not that easy to take. Some car makers are embracing the change, some are fighting against it, and some seem to be in a a state of paralysis. The show had a multitude of Visions, Vizzions, Mission e’s and i’s. A vast array of supercars, AMG’s, M’s and SV’s And a variety of classics from the past, showing a certain nostalgia of this fast changing world. The industry for the last 100 years has been perfecting “the ultimate driving machine”, faster, bigger, sexier and more expensive. The industry has optimised the design process with masterful surfacing, fit and finish, the finest engineering, and the glossiest of marketing. It now has to reinvent itself, as the architecture, driving emotion and customer needs change. Price development in Germany 30 Volkswagen Beetle – the sound, the humor, the smell, the feel, the maneuverability, the image The Sound. The typical sound of a Beetle. People of the Beetle Generation sit up and take notice when they hear it today. They are strangely touched, experience melancholy, as though remembering something long since lost. It is a sound as unmistakable as the Beetle's silhouette: it buzzes, it putters - all against a background of soothing fan noises – a feeling of euphoria which has underscored our mobility for decades and which was the accompaniment for our independence and for growing prosperity during those years. Beginning in the late 1940's and continuing into the early 1980's, the unmistakable noise of the Beetle left its mark on the sound backdrop of German streets. And in other places, as well, the air-cooled Beetle Boxer was the lead instrument in the noisy traffic concert. This is why Volkswagen advertising from the Doyle Dane Bernbach (DDB) agency at the end of the 1960's, advertising that is already legendary today, was titled „What the world loves about Germany"; it included a colorfully mixed collection of pictures: Heidelberg, a cuckoo clock, sauerkraut with dumplings, Goethe, a dachshund, the Lorelei – and a Beetle.
