PADRES ON DECK: Friday, the TinCaps and Padres agreed on a 2-year extension of their Player Development Contract (PDC) through the 2020 season. This will stretch the affiliation between the organizations to 22 years continuing what is already the longest-lasting Minor League Baseball affiliation in San Diego’s franchise history. Padres Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller and TinCaps President Mike Nutter held a press conference at Parkview Field on Friday to announce the extension. This season is the 20th year of affiliation between Fort Wayne and San Diego, going back to 1999. The Wizards entered the Midwest League as an affiliate of the Twins in 1993 and remained with Minnesota through 1998. 260 TO THE SHOW: There have been 166 former Fort Wayne Wizards/TinCaps players to appear in the big leagues.
