A Note from Father Michael

Dear parishioners,

"Give my greetings in Christ Jesus to every member of the church. . . . May the favor of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen." (Phil 4:21a, 23). So says St. Paul to the Pillippians and me to you! I hope this letter Linds you doing well and advancing in the grace and power of God.

You may have noticed my absence from the parish which will likely continue for several months. Certainly, everyone has experienced the upheaval that the coronavirus pandemic has brought about in all of our lives. My life is no exception. The stress and pressure of both the pandemic and multiple parish renovations adversely affected my temperament and there were occasions when my aggravation got the better of me. Out of concern for my well-being and my ministry, I was presented with the opportunity to participate in a program aimed at helping me deal more effectively with stressful situations, which I gladly accepted.

I am as committed as ever to working with you to become even more "the Body of Christ doing the works of Christ." As you know, I love you all, and therefore, I eagerly embraced this opportunity to learn new skills, to seek deeper healing in my life, and to discover better ways of ministering to you and to others.

In the meantime, Fr. Joseph Lappe, the Associate Pastor, will serve as temporary administrator, and together with Deacon Dan Burmeister will continue to provide pastoral care to all of you with the strength and wisdom provided by God. Be assured, even now, of my prayers for you. If, from time to time, you would pray for me, I would greatly appreciate it. May the good Lord bless you and may our dear Lady be your sure support in these challenging times. Peace to you, always!

Sincerely, Rev. Michael Callea, MIC

This weekend, October 24th / 25th Holy Rosary will be taking up a second collection in support of the 2020 Missionary Cooperation Plan for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Here are a few words from the Missions Director of Society of the Divine Savior-: My name is Fr. John Tigatiga SDS, Director of the Mission Office for the Salvatorian USA Province. The Salvatorians are a society of and brothers serving the church in 30 countries throughout the world. We serve in 5 African countries. My focus is to serve our missions in Tanzania. Salvatorians have served in Tanzania for over 55 years. Today we Salvatorians are serving in parishes, schools, farms, hospitals, and in the formation of priests and lay ministers. We mostly serve in Southern Tanzania, which is the poorest area in the country. The fund which we get from missions appeals helps to support the following: To support our kindergartens, clinics for kids, dispensaries, and Orphanage Center. Supporting the Catholic radio station (the only radio in the whole Southern Tanzania). Drilling wells to provide safe drinking water. Supporting the Salvatorian Institute of Philosophy and Theology – our most important contribution to the church in Africa, emphasis is given to evangelization. Besides the training of seminarians, programs are offered to diocesan and religious priests, sisters and lay people with the means to spread the gospel both in the local church and on the international level. At the present time we have over 400 seminarians in training at the institute. Help us sustain our missionaries and train seminarians for the future leaders of the Church, thus allowing them to continue their important work of making the Savior known. May God continue to bless you and the important work you do to support our missions.

Yours in the Savior, Fr. John Tigatiga, SDS Missions Director USA Province, Salvadorians

We glorify God by living the particular life He has given us to live and by fulPilling our shared mission, variously expressed!
