Synopsis Die Masseurin Eva (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) ist geschieden und alleinerziehende Mutter einer Tochter, deren Weggang ans College bevorsteht. Eva fürchtet sich vor der bevorstehenden Einsamkeit. Eines Abends lernt sie den lustigen und sympathischen Albert (James Gandolfini) kennen, der ebenfalls allein lebt und ihr wie ein Gleichgesinnter erscheint. Zwischen beiden beginnt eine wunderbare Romanze. Parallel freundet sich Eva mit Marianne (Catherine Kee- ner), eine ihrer neuen Kundinnen, an, die eine begnadete Dichterin ist, aber etwas zu viel über ihren Ex-Mann herzieht. Als Eva zufällig erfährt, dass Marianne keine andere als Alberts Ex- Frau ist, beginnt sie ihre Beziehung zu Albert, die anfangs so perfekt schien, immer kritischer zu betrachten… In dieser herzergreifenden romantischen Komödie lassen sich zwei geschiedene Mittvierziger nochmals auf das Wagnis Liebe mit all seinen Turbulenzen ein. 3 cineworx 3. Produktionsnotizen Wie in ihren früheren Filmen entwirft Nicole Holofcener, ausgehend von eigenen Erfahrungen und denen ihrer Freunde, einen kenntnisreichen und beißenden Kommentar über die Heraus- forderungen des modernen Lebens. «Nicole zeichnet sich durch eine sehr eigenwillige und humorvolle Weltsicht aus», so Produzent Anthony Bregman. «Ihre Figuren sind nervlich ange- spannte Zeitgenossen, die ständig darum ringen, Balance und Sinn in ihrem Leben zu finden. Sie werden von elementaren Gefühlen getrieben, sind aber selbstkritisch genug, um deswe- gen Schuldgefühle zu entwickeln. Dieser innere Zwiespalt ist die Quelle von Nicole Holofce- ners Humor – und macht ihn so zugänglich, denn wir alle leben in einer kontroversen Gesell- schaft.» Holofcener bewunderte Julia Louis-Dreyfus schon seit deren umwerfendem Auftritt als Elaine Benes im TV-Klassiker «Seinfeld». Deshalb wusste sie auch, dass es für die mehrfache Em- my- und Golden Globe-Preisträgerin kein unüberwindbares Problem sein würde, die Komik von Evas verzwickter Lage auszudrücken. «Julia ist vor allem wegen ihres komödiantischen Talents berühmt. Doch das Publikum hat bisher vielleicht noch nicht erkannt, wie weit ihre Fähigkeiten über das Comedy-Genre hinaus- reichen. Sie hat die seltene Begabung, sich scheinbar mühelos und mit derselben Beharrlich- keit und Geschicklichkeit in eine dramatische Rolle einzufinden», erklärt Holofcener. «Als sie darüber sprach, wie sie vor kurzem ihren Sohn ins College brachte, zeigte sie mir ein Bild auf ihrem Smartphone und bekam plötzlich feuchte Augen. Da wusste ich, dass sie das Skript völlig verstand, und dachte bei mir, wie viel Spass es machen würde, sie in einer Rolle zu se- hen, die so ganz anders ist als alle, die sie bisher verkörpert hat.» «Ich hatte überhaupt keine Zweifel, dass sie als Eva großartig sein würde - aber ich hatte ja keine Ahnung, wie wunderbar sie dann tatsächlich war», fügt die Regisseurin hinzu. «Ich konnte nicht ahnen, dass sie dermaßen leicht einen Zugang zu tiefen Gefühlen herstellen kann. Und sie gehört zu jenen Schauspielerinnen, bei denen man nie müde wird, sie zu be- trachten. Wenn ich Julias Auftritt sehe, entdecke ich selbst jetzt noch kleine Sachen, die mich immer noch überraschen, obwohl ich sie schon so oft gesehen habe.» Beim ersten Treffen mit Holofcener sprühte Louis-Dreyfus nur so vor Ideen und Einsichten über Evas Charakter. «Wir haben uns von Anfang an so gut verstanden, dass ich das Gefühl hatte, sie schon mein ganzes Leben lang zu kennen», sagt die Schauspielerin. «Ich wundere mich immer noch, warum wir uns nicht schon früher getroffen haben. Ich hatte sowohl «Love- ly & Amazing» wie auch «Please Give» gesehen und mich damals bereits in die Tonalität ihrer Filme verliebt. Sie ist sehr spleenig, lustig und warmherzig. Sie arbeitet mit sehr alltagsnahem Humor statt mit platten Witzen.» Bregman und Produzentin Stefanie Azpiazu, die seit Holofceners frühsten Filmen mit ihr zu- sammenarbeiteten, haben miterlebt, wie sie es schaffte, aus den Schlüsselmomenten ihres Lebens komödiantisches Gold zu spinnen. «Bereits ihr erster Film «Walking & Talking» ver- 4 cineworx mittelte ungemein authentisch das Lebensgefühl einer Zwanzigjährigen, die mit Jungs aus- geht, eine enge Beziehung zu ihrer besten Freundin hat und sich allmählich weiterentwickeln muss», sagt Azpiazu. «Und «Friends with Money» handelt von jenem Punkt im Leben, den viele Leute erreichen – jenen Punkt, an dem sie das Gefühl haben, dass die Freunde voran- kommen, sie selbst aber immer noch am rudern sind.» ENOUGH SAID spiegelt einige der Veränderungen in Holofceners eigenem Leben wieder - und nimmt zugleich einige vorweg. «Alles in Evas Leben ändert sich in großem Stil», sagt Ho- lofcener. «Sie hat Angst davor, einsam zu sein, wenn ihre Tochter aufs College geht, und dass ihr Leben dann seinen Sinn verliert. Sie macht Witze darüber, dass sie den Rest ihres Lebens mit Stricken verbringt. Auch ich selbst will natürlich, dass meine Kinder von zuhause ausziehen. Aber ich setze mich unvermeidlich auch mit der Frage auseinander, was sich än- dern wird, wenn sie gehen. Dieser Film ist mein Versuch, dieses Ereignis gefühlsmäßig durchzuarbeiten, bevor es überhaupt passiert – als ob so etwas je klappen würde.» «Ich war verheiratet und wurde geschieden», sagt sie. «Als ich eine andere Beziehung be- gann, habe ich mich gefragt, was mein Ex-Ehemann seiner neuen Freundin über mich erzäh- len würde, ob sie mich als das Problem der gescheiterten Ehe sehen würde. Doch als ich mich selbst mit jemand anderem einliess, erzählte ich natürlich Geschichten, die meinen Ex als das Problem darstellten. Wo liegt die Wahrheit? Vielleicht überall und nirgends. Wie schafft man es, seinen Kopf freizukriegen, damit man sich traut, sein Herz zu öffnen und das Risiko einzugehen, sich neu zu verlieben?» Am Anfang von ENOUGH SAID besucht Eva eine Party, in der sie zwei vielleicht lebensent- scheidende Bekanntschaften macht: Marianne, eine Dichterin, deren coole Aura und eleganter Lifestyle alles ist, nach dem sich die unsichere alleinerziehende Mutter sehnt. Und Albert, ein unaufdringlicher Fernseh-Archivar, der ihren leisen Humor und ihre unprätentiöse Weltsicht teilt. Eva, überwältigt von Mariannas Grandezza, lässt sich auf eine Freundschaft mit ihr ein, die an Heldenverehrung grenzt. Marianne macht sie zur Vertrauten, indem sie gehässige Details ihrer unschönen Scheidung schildert, mitsamt der minutiösen Liste der Fehler ihres Ex- Mannes. «Marianne redet liebend gern über ihren Ex und darüber, wie grässlich er war», er- klärt Holofcener. «Laut ihrer Aussage ist er schlicht ein übergewichtiger Tölpel, der unglaub- lich nervende Marotten hat.» Währenddessen geht Eva mit Albert aus, der sie mit seiner Authentizität und Warmherzigkeit bezaubert. Sie ist selbst darüber erstaunt, welche tiefen Gefühle sie für ihn entwickelt - doch dann ändert sich alles. «Leider muss Eva erkennen, dass der schreckliche Ex, von dem Mari- anne immer erzählt, derselbe Typ ist, in den sie sich gerade verliebt», sagt Holofcener. «Aber sie verhält sich nicht wie eine Erwachsene und sagt „Wow, ich treffe mich mit deinem Ex- Ehemann“, oder „Ich glaube, dass ich gerade deine

In primetime, she won two Emmy® Awards for her portrayal of Sue Ann Nivens, the Happy Homemaker, on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” She earned two more Emmys® for her roles in “The Golden Girls” and “The John Larroquette Show.” White narrated the New Year’s Day Tournament of Roses Parade on network television for 20 years and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for 10. She has appeared in a number of feature films including “Dennis the Menace Strikes Again” and “Bringing Down the House.” Her motion picture-for-television credits include “Chance of a Lifetime” and “Stealing Christmas.” White’s most recent guest-starring roles have been on “Everwood,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” “My Wife and Kids” and “The Practice,” for which she was nominated for yet another Emmy®. Additionally, they will work with mentors to shape and refine their projects and pitches. At the conclusion of the program, each pair will pitch their projects to a jury of industry experts.
