July 1. The Grant United Methodist Church is closing. It is a regrettable loss to the rural community served by the church, located eight miles southwest of Elkton. Many Cass Cityans who never attended a church service there will regret its passing. For many of its 77 years the church staged an Shabbona Area News annual church dinner.
