Mr Kozonguizi, in confirming the detentions of the Katofa father and son, said that police were entitled to hold them for 30 days under AG 9, after which they would have to charge them or apply to the Cabinet for their further detention. Mr Katofa was in the news when he was detained·in May 1984 under Proclamation AG 26. After an ap plication for his release by . his brother, Mr Nikodemus Katofa, was granted by the Windhoek Supreme Court, the interim government Cabinet appealed the decision.
