Email : [email protected] I. Introduction Certains des geckos du genre Phelsuma ont pour habitude de fixer leurs oeufs à un support. Phelsuma borbonica en fait partie et l'on peut parfois rencontrer des pontes communes pouvant dépasser les 200 oeufs (Probst & Déso, 2001). Or, lors d'un relevé faunistique et floristique sur la route forestière de la plaine d'Affouches, nous avons observé, avec Jean-Michel Probst, un site de ponte particulier qui mérite d'être décrit. Il s'agissait d'une cavité dans un arbre appartenant à une espèce introduite, le Bois d'andrèze (Trema orientalis) où nous avons observé plusieurs pontes de Phelsuma borbonica borbonica à moitié enfouies dans de l'humus. Certains auteurs ont souvent pour habitude de signaler les caractéristiques de ponte, en caractérisant certaines espèces de Phelsuma « egg gluer species » ce qui veut dire qu'elles collent leurs œufs sur un support. La liste ci-dessous énumère quelques espèces à oeufs adhérents à un support. Les espèces endémiques de l'île de la Réunion sont signalées par un astérisque (*). Nous listerons donc 17 espèces fixatrices d'œufs et plusieurs espèces non fixatrices. Ce qui regroupe un grand nombre d'espèces de Phelsuma , qui sont séparées ici par leur caractéristique de ponte. -

In der Gattung Phelsuma ist Gecko inunguis der zweitälteste verfügbare Name. Die sehr kurze Originalbeschreibung, der Verlust der Typen und Zweifel an der Typuslokalität behin- derten die taxonomische Interpretation von Gecko inunguis. Anhand eines in der Bayerischen Staatlichen Bibliothek in München aufgefundenen Aquarells von NIKOLAUS OPPEL, signiert mit “Gecko inunguis Duméril”, werden neue Details zur Beschuppung sowie Färbung und Zeichnung des Taxons mitgeteilt. Darauf basierend wird angenommen, dass es sich bei Gecko inunguis um eine Phelsuma-Art von Madagaskar oder den Komoren handelt. Um die nomenklatorische Stabilität in der Gattung Phelsuma nicht zu gefährden, schlagen wir eine Unterdrückung von Gecko inunguis durch das ICZN vor. > Abstract We describe and discuss the taxonomic and nomenclatural history of the dubious gekkonid taxon Gecko inunguis Cuvier, 1817 which had been described from the dubious type locality Mauritius island in the western Indian Ocean. -

TSITONGAMBARIKA FOREST, MADAGASCAR TSITONGAMBARIKA FOREST, MADAGASCAR Biological and socio-economic surveys, with conservation recommendations The biodiversity of Madagascar is well known to be exceptionally rich and highly threatened. Lowland humid evergreen forest is one of the most threatened vegetation types, but significant areas can still be found in the far south-east, notably at Biological and socio-economic surveys, with conservation recommendations Biological Tsitongambarika forest. This book presents the results of a series of biological and socio-economic surveys at Tsitongambarika. These clearly demonstrate the very great importance of this site, and point towards to approaches needed to conserve it. The work was coordinated by Asity Madagascar, with primary support and sponsorship from Rio Tinto, BirdLife International and Rio Tinto QMM. At its 10th meeting (CoP10, Harare, 1997) the Conference of the Parties appointed Dr Marinus S. Hoogmoed, formerly of the National Museum of Natural History, Leiden, the Netherlands, as the zoologist of the Nomenclature Committee (NC) and Mr Noel McGough, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as its botanist. At CoP11 (Gigiri, 2000) and CoP12 (Santiago, 2002), they were reappointed. They carried out their duties as specified in Resolution Conf. 11.1 (Rev. CoP12) on the Establishment of Committees, and as directed in Decisions 11.119 regarding the Work programme of the Nomenclature Committee, 11.120 regarding the Nomenclature of amphibian species and 12.55 regarding Seahorses and other members of the family Syngnathidae. 2. The NC would like to take this opportunity to invite Parties again to suggest specialists who could provide input concerning nomenclatural matters to the members of NC in fulfilling the responsibilities assigned to them. 3. This report is presented in three parts: an introduction, a section on fauna nomenclature and one on flora nomenclature. Each part covers the main activities since CoP12, the proposed work programme for the next period and a proposed operating budget. 4. Recommendations of the NC, calling for decisions of the Conference of the Parties, are included in the Annex to this document. -

AC24 Doc. 7.2 CONVENTION ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE IN ENDANGERED SPECIES OF WILD FAUNA AND FLORA ___________________ Twenty-fourth meeting of the Animals Committee Geneva, (Switzerland), 20-24 April 2009 Review of Significant Trade in specimens of Appendix-II species OVERVIEW OF THE SPECIES-BASED REVIEW OF SIGNIFICANT TRADE 1. This document has been prepared by the Secretariat. 2. Resolution Conf. 12.8 (Rev. CoP13) on Review of Significant Trade in specimens of Appendix-II species directs the Secretariat, for the purpose of monitoring and facilitating the implementation of that Resolution and the relevant paragraphs of Article IV, "to report at each meeting of the Animals or Plants Committee on the implementation by the range States concerned of the recommendations made by the Committee". The Secretariat, in consultation with the Chair of the Animals Committee, has to determine whether recommendations made under the Review of Significant Trade have been implemented by the range States and to report to the Standing Committee, which decides on appropriate action. The present document therefore contains information on recent decisions of the Standing Committee in the context of the Review of Significant Trade, and gives brief updates on ongoing reviews. Species selected before 2000 3. Paragraph v) of Resolution Conf. 12.8 (Rev. CoP13) states that: the Standing Committee, in consultation with the Secretariat and the Chairman of the Animals or Plants Committee, shall review recommendations to suspend trade that have been in place for longer than two years and, if appropriate, take measures to address the situation. 4. In accordance with this paragraph, the Secretariat commissioned a study to review such recommendations to suspend trade established prior to September 2003. -

The collections included three species of Hydrothelphusa (H. agilis, H. madagascariensis and H. goudoti), and specimens of three monotypic genera, Madagapotamon, Marojejy and Boreas. A detailed examination of a large series of specimens of H. madagascariensis of all ages from numerous locations through- out the island concluded that H. bombetokensis (Rathbun, 1904) should properly be treated as a junior objective synonym of H. madagascariensis A. Milne- Edwards, 1872. Datasets combining the new records with literature records for all species of freshwater crabs in Madagascar were used to produce distribution maps. Overlaps in the distribution patterns of taxa indicate that there are centres of endemism (biodiversity hotspots) for freshwater crabs in the north-west low- land coastal region of Antsiranana Province in northern Madagascar.
