Nunca he entendido esa apreciación.

  • BROODMARE ANALYSIS REPORT a Broodmare’S Nicking Analysis with up to 50 Potential Stallions
COMPILED SPECIFICALLY FOR Tempo BROODMARE ANALYSIS REPORT A broodmare’s nicking analysis with up to 50 potential stallions Copyright © 2011 The Jockey Club Information Systems, Inc. BROODMARE ANALYSIS REPORT TrueNicks: An Explanation Nicks in History Compatibilities between stallions from one sire line with mares of another sire line has helped shape the breed since the Eclipse/Herod cross of the late 18th century. These successful crosses, called nicks, have impacted Thoroughbred development through such examples as Hermit/Stockwell, Lexington/Glencoe, Bend Or/Macaroni, and Phalaris/Chaucer. In the modern era, the prolific Mr. Prospector/Northern Dancer cross has produced outstanding racehorses and sires such as Kingmambo, Distorted Humor, and Elusive Quality. Fast-Forward to the 21st Century Computer databases have made it possible to measure and rate nicks, giving rise to a commercial market for such statistics. The first nick ratings offered to the public, though popular, were compromised by incomplete data and yielded results based on hypothetical rather than actual opportunity. This statistical gap was the impetus behind the development of TrueNicks. A Statistically Valid Approach Unlike other ratings that are calculated based on hypothetical opportunity within a limited group of horses, TrueNicks references the international database of The Jockey Club—the world’s most complete record of Thoroughbreds and their performance—to produce a sophisticated rating based on all starters and stakes winners on a given cross. The Statistics The TrueNicks rating is derived from two statistical elements: the Sire Improvement Index (SII) and the Broodmare Sire Improvement Index (BSII). Each figure compares the percentage of progeny stakes winners to starters.

A tale of two Dubai World Cup stars IF the G1 Dubai World Cup winner happens to be of the calibre of Champions Dubai Millennium, Street Cry or Singspiel, then retirement from the racetrack automatically brings with it all the trappings associated with being a top Darley stallion. • RUK DWC Preview
The Dubai World Cup has arrived, ushered in loudly as the first big international event on the racing calendar. If last year’s runner-up, California Chrome, is really “five lengths better” this time around, as trainer Art Sherman asserts, then he should be extremely hard to beat in Saturday’s $10million extravaganza. Or at least it looked that way, until the draw, when Victor Espinoza was dealt a tough task in 11. Still, he’s not concerned, which is good news for the race, which dearly needs another high- profile international winner. The shock victories of African Story and Prince Bishop provoked wild scenes among the Meydan faithful who adore a Maktoum-owned winner, but the World Cup’s lofty moniker means that it needs a victor from overseas in order to truly deserve that title. Frosted, of course, sits happily in both camps, being Godolphin-owned but trained – for the most part – in the States. His Maktoum Challenge Round II win suggested that he is indeed “ready” as Kiaran McLaughlin states confidently, but can we really take a horse whose biggest win came in the Grade 2 Pennsylvania Derby over a Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner? For that reason, California Chrome [Meydan, 17:00] edges it, but there won’t be much in it and how fast – or otherwise – the track rides will undoubtedly play a part. It’s a solid World Cup, and it would be remiss to ignore Mike De Kock’s Mubtaahij, who has drawn well and looks overpriced, while Special Fighter’s eye-catching final fractions on Super Saturday give him a place shout too.

(8 Starters) Overseas Expert Column by Wally Pyrah An all-star cast includes wonder mare GOLDIKOVA –winner of 14 Group 1’s – and considered the best equine female in world. The Freddie Head trained mare will be an odds-on favourite to provide back-to-back victories in a race she dominated twelve months ago. Connections took a gamble when they ran her on unsuitably soft ground over 1600mtrs in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville in August and paid the price. The wonder-filly was caught close home by IMMORTAL VERSE with Italian rival WORTHADD back in 9th place. Back to her optimum trip and favoured fast ground possibly, GOLDIKOVA will take a lot of beating. UK challenger DREAM AHEAD steps up in trip from 1200mtrs following two Group 1 victories in the ultra-competitive July Cup at Newmarket, and Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock. Trainer David Simcock has always believed he is capable of winning over 1400mtrs plus and here will be his chance to prove it. Irish trained challenger BEWITCHED is an interesting challenger. Following her 1400mtrs success over Group class ZOFFANY in Ireland in May, the DANSILI filly subsequently disappointed when made favourite for the Golden Jubilee over 1200mtrs at Royal Ascot in June.
