Easy delicious strawberry ice cream recipe even the kids will enjoy making – and eating! - Great idea as you can adapt the recipe by using alternative fruits like ripened bananas, raspberries, peeled peaches, or nectarines What you will need: - 1 punnet of strawberries, ripened (about 400g) 250g mascarpone ½ can (397g) of condensed milk Cones/sprinkles to serve To make: - Wash the strawberries and pull out the green stalks, place in a flat-bottomed dish Mash up the strawberries well with a potato masher Add the mascarpone and mix up, don’t worry if it’s a bit lumpy Add the condensed milk and mix together, don’t worry if it’s streaky Spoon all the mixture into a plastic or metal box, cover with clingfilm and put it in the freezer for at least 6 hours. Scoop and serve into cones and decorate with the sprinkles Yorkshire and the Humber Self Harm in Adults Study - Opportunity to be part of Planning Panel The Yorkshire and the Humber Self Harm in Adults study will soon be starting. They will be interviewing people with lived experience of self-harm to find out more about their experiences and what has helped or hindered them in protecting their personal mental health and wellbeing – this might include accessing support, their environment, employment and volunteering opportunities, community or personal activities and social connections. If you would like more information about the study, please contact Vyv Huddy at [email protected] Service user COVID message on what to expect from us after 19 July The Government has told us that from 19 July coronavirus restrictions in society will be eased. In order to ensure the NHS stays safe and can continue to provide care, the Government has said that some restrictions need to stay in healthcare settings. What you can expect from us: • To help keep you and us safe, we will continue to wear PPE and face masks in all of our buildings • We will continue to practise social distancing, including during group work and in meetings What we ask from you: • To help prevent infection spreading, if you can, please wear a face mask in our buildings. They are available free of charge in all of our reception areas. • Help us to practise social distancing inside our buildings, during your appointments, and in any group work you take part in Social distancing and what we need to do to keep our areas clean may still limit the number of appointments we can offer or the number of available places in our group therapies. We are doing everything we can to minimise the impact this has on your treatment and if necessary, may need to offer you an alternative, or ask you to wait for the next available appointment. By working together in this way, we can help reduce the infection rates and help keep us all safe NEWS RELEASE from Wakefield Public Health team Council publishes latest COVID-19 data for the district Wakefield Council has published the latest COVID-19 data for the district to keep residents up to date. The figures show that for the latest set of weekly data (between 7 and 13 July) Wakefield’s positive case rate has significantly increased from the previous week – from 538.9 to 664.9 positive cases (per 100,000 population). In the Wakefield district, 1,921 cases of the Delta variant have been confirmed (as of 16 July 2021). Cllr Maureen Cummings, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Poverty and Health, said: “Our additional testing programme continues to take place which is contributing to the steep rise in cases again this week. “Residents and businesses across our district have experienced some extremely challenging times and the lifting of restrictions today is good news for many, but our cases are significantly higher than the national average so please remain vigilant and follow the latest guidance. We must continue to consider our own risk and play our part to keep ourselves and others safe. Please remember to also get both doses of your vaccine when asked.” Anna Hartley, Director of Public Health for the Wakefield district, said: “Infection rates are continuing to rise as cases of the Delta variant continue to rise – and we now have the highest rate in West Yorkshire. We are continuing to actively monitor the situation and taking all necessary action. “As restrictions are lifted today, I know people will be looking forward to enjoying the freedoms they have missed for many months, but please remember that the virus is spreading very quickly across our district and I ask people to be cautious and considerate and think of others who might be vulnerable. “To limit the spread of the virus, our advice to residents continues to be: • Getting both doses of vaccine without delay. There are a range of walk-in sessions available, you can find out more here • If you have COVID-19 symptoms (a high temperature, a new, continuous cough and a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste) you must isolate immediately and take a PCR test. • If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive, you must self-isolate and arrange a PCR test immediately. The self-isolation rules do not change until 16 August. • Limit the number of people you mix with who are not in your household. Where possible, meet people outdoors or in well-ventilated places. • Continue to wear a face-covering in indoor public places or on public transport.” There are currently 52 COVID-19 patients being cared for by The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, compared to 32 the previous week. Jo Webster, Chief Officer at NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Worryingly the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in the district have taken another significant increase. Now is not the time to become complacent, even though restrictions are easing. It really is essential that we continue to follow the guidance to isolate immediately if symptoms develop. “It is also vital that everyone aged 18 or over has the COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible. You can have your vaccination at one of the handy walk-in centres across the Wakefield district - find out the locations at bit.ly/GrabAJabWF “We also need to remember to choose the right local healthcare service for our needs www.nhs.uk.” Wakefield Council is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation across the district with effective monitoring to map relevant data and spot trends, which acts as an early warning system.
