The village is located on the west bank of the River Lee to the west of Great Island. Cork County Council proposes to install a series of floating pontoons around Cork Harbour that will increase accessibility to the harbour. The proposed pontoon at Passage West will be available for use by all harbour users (including ferry operators). 2.0 GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT It is proposed to install floating pontoons at Steam Packet Quay, Marmullane, Passage West, Co. Cork. The development will create safer berthing facilities in the area and will form part of a series of strategically located pontoons within Cork Harbour.
