Resident vs. Non-Resident All programs will list two prices under the fee title (example - $15/$25). The first price is for a resident of the City of Portage or Pacific Township. The second price is for non-residents. Non-resident fees are charged to help our department continue to maintain our programs and facilities. Scholarship Parks and Recreation Board The City of Portage wishes to offer our programs and activities to all area children this activity season. Bags and containers are provided. Fees: Daily Pass $2 - Season Pass available at the Park & Rec Office $20/$25 8 Spring Special Events Safe Sitter Essentials Course Do you want to have your child learn how to be a good babysitter? The Portage Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to present a one day “Safe Sitter Essentials” course that teaches middle-school aged kids the responsibilities of safely caring for young children. Safety skills, child development and behavior tips, rescue breathing and first aid will also be discussed. Upon passing the class, children may gain employment within their community with their certification and/or parents can feel more confident leaving an elder child to watch their younger siblings. Space is limited and registration is required. Dates: Saturday, April 18 or Saturday, May 16 Youth Sports Staff Location: Portage Park & Rec Office (701 W Slifer St) Help coach and instruct kids in our t-ball, youth soccer, Times: 8 am - 1:30 pm and other youth sports programs! Employees must be Ages: 11 - 15 reliable, hard working, and able to work well with kids. Fee: $35/$45 • 5-25 hours per week Max 6 • Pay range $8-$9.50 Youth Sports Supervisor Spring Sports Help lead and run our Youth Sports programs. Applicants must have past experience working with kids, preferably in Middle School Spring Tennis a sports setting. This is an instructional program that uses a ‘practice-play’ • 5-25 hours per week format and geared towards students enrolled in 6th-8th • Pay range $9.50-$16 per hour grade. Practices will cover tennis fundamentals including scoring and game play. Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays: April 7 to May 14 Summer Camp Staff Location: Collipp-Worden Park Tennis Courts This position will help at our Summer Playground Program Grades: 6th - 8th or our Tiny Tot Camps. Staff will lead games, activities, Times: 3:30 pm -5:30 pm and crafts at our supervised playground program. Limited Fee: $25/$35 positions available.
