REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES NATIONAL DISASTER COORDINATING COUNCIL National Disaster Management Center, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City, Philippines SUBJECT : Update on Flooding in Quezon and Oriental Mindoro Provinces and Landslide and Flooding in Camarines Norte Province DATE : December 7, 2005 (as of 5:00 PM) REFERENCE: Update from OCD Region IV re flooding in Quezon and Oriental Mindoro Provinces and OCD Region V re landslide and flooding in Camarines Norte BACKGROUND: Region IV • The continuous heavy rains induced by northeast monsoon rains affected eleven (11) municipalities in Region IV: five (5) in Quezon Province, namely Candelaria, Mauban, Atimonan, Pagbilao, Perez and six (6) in Oriental Mindoro, namely, Naujan, Baco, Victoria, Pola, Pinamalayan, Socorro and Calapan City • As a result of this weather disturbance, the Iyam and Dumacaa Rivers in Lucena City, Quezon overflowed, Protective Dike at Brgy. Del Pilar, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro was breached and damaged, and Bucayao River in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro overflowed Region V • Two (2) landslides occurred one (1) in (Purok 1-B) Sitio Talagpucao, Brgy. Catioan, Capalonga, Camarines Norte on or about 1:30 PM December 6, 2005, and another one along San Andres-Virac National Road in Catanduanes Province. • Flooding occurred in three (3) barangays of Capalonga, Camarines Norte, namely, Poblacion, Mataque and Catioan.
